I remember this record coming out and playing it on radio. Loved me some Ian Dury & The Blockheads!

Thank you OBX Dude. I have long been a fan of Kings of Leon and especially live music. I had not heard this before...just missed it somehow. Thanks.

Read in the past day or so that a portion of Lemmy's ashes will be "inurned" at the Rainbow on Sunset in WeHo. Just hope they'll be near the poker machine at the end of the bar...or at least near the bourbon & Coke! He'd have liked that, as it's always where he was when he hung out there.

I'm not big on heavy metal, but ended up watching a documentary about these guys and for some reason, the music stuck.

I am grateful that you have shared your story and that information to me and to this forum. I loved how Lemmy never picked a side politically. He just stated, accurately, that neither side had your best interests in mind. R.I.P. Ian Fraser Kilmister Born 24 December 1945 Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. Morrissey is wonderful! Still looks sharp in a suit. And I can relate to that song as I am sure you can. We have watched friends and people of our generation pass. It's not easy, but who in the fuck said it was going to be? I had a 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Brooks. Her favorite saying was, "Life aint' a bowl of cherries". O.K., on to your question............. Johnny Marr was a special musician. Just as talented as Morrissey. The Smiths were such a seminal band. Like The Cure. Siouxsie and the Banshees. The Smiths much more meaningful, although I appreciate what Morrissey has done. Kept fit. Voice still popping. Trivia piece.....Robert Smith filled in on guitar for Siouxsie's band on the road. He credits her with a lot. Here is a good song.....great question, brother....this song shaped my pubescence..... |

I recently saw a neat documentary about Johnny Moped, with a lot of great live footage of them and other bands of the same era. If I remember the name or find it again, I'll post it. ⚠️ Last edited by Motovista on UTC; edited 4 times

Nice. My ex brother in law had a band around the same time, and they played with Blondie, the Stranglers, Ramones, Duncan Dhu and a lot of other big groups of the era. Here's one of his songs.

I started this thread for Judy. LX 150, plum.
I will forever remember her. She offered her phone number once, as I was needing guidance. I wish now that I had called. Missed chances. Love you, Judy. Hope you like the tune. |

I spoke to Judy a few times on the phone, mostly about a Yamaha. She was a force. And probably wouldn't have liked this one

This is my song to my sweet girl....she has been around the block. So have I.
She thinks she is a slut. Feels shame. I have been in a few motel rooms that make me feel shame as well. She is the only one that I can tell everything to. Special, huh? |

I think I've found a way to add some fun to this thread.
Check out this tune. https://app.suno.ai/song/e50e64ef-cc20-4ad5-9480-85c877b6f0f0 I'd love to take the credit for this obvious masterpiece, but the fact is Suno Ai generated it almost as fast as I could type in descriptors. It's free and really fun. It's also the death knell of songwriters. Oh well, let's have some fun. I can't wait to hear one from Adri! |

Totally indulgent song here...............reminds me of a girl and swinging hard.......always was a good fighter...hard head....never been knocked out and many scraps. It's probably the reason for my drain bramage....seriously.....to many hits to the head in sports and fighting...then drugs.......I'm lucky to be here now. Not waving a flag like I'm proud. I'm ashamed, honestly. Fuck it.

Adrian Belew has had an interesting life. Playing in a Beatles cover band in Kentucky, Frank Zappa saw him and hired him. David Bowie saw Adrian at a Zappa show, and hired him. Robert Fripp was at a Bowie show and hired Adrian from Bowie.
Adrian Belew likes to make animal sounds with his guitar, like here. |

I had the good fortune to see Adrian Belew when he was with SWEETHEART, and they were a lot more than a Beatles cover band. They played a club where I'm from, and for the first set, there weren't many folks there...under a hundred.
Anyway, the band made their entrance wearing '30s gangster suits and fedoras, tuned up, and played Steely Dan's THE ROYAL SCAM. Not the song...the entire album! It hadn't been out more than a couple of months. Knocked me on my kiester! Wasn't too long after that Zappa heard them and signed Adrian up. I have followed him since that club night. THE LONE RHINO indeed! |
