Here's a fun one that should resonate with this crowd... I think a few of our posters were extras. But it's not a damn moped!!!

Motovista I wear my heart on my sleave and say too much sometimes. I'm ok. That girl? Another one that had to be told some rules. Of course, my rules are so unfair, lol. I told her: If you want to give me shit for things, you have to pay a toll. You can't jump the turnstile and be pissed that the L-train got you there late.
On a less serious note, you have a very broad musical taste that I dig. Here's a tune off the top of my head. |

skids Johnny Ramone looked up to The Clash. He saw a tight band and tried to duplicate it in America. Johnny took Joey's girl from him, though. For that alone, I cannot put Johnny as high as some in the rock n roll hierarchy.
Love this song. Joey was singing to dude...."You took my girl"....... Edit-Yeah, Keith, on some strong brown. He kept time. He probably did a huge rail just before that to keep from nodding. It's a helluva balance. |

I have a thought and feel like sharing it. For a good half of my life, I strived (strove?) to be able to say "fuck off". Have my own shit. Do my own thing. I don't think that exists. You get intertwined with people. And you can totally relocate across the country. The U.S. is huge. You will get intertwined again. It's like weeds. Accept it and choose wisely. My $0.02.

It was a time when I wasn't watching SNL (I don't now either). Sade was supposed to perform, but backed out. The Spanic Boys were in New York and took Sade's place. But of course I didn't see it.
At the time I was watching David Letterman. I loved Letterman. In the 90s David was hilarious - if you liked it - pissing off guests, and the like. Sade was supposed to play Letterman's show too, but he got the same band SNL did. The Spanic Boys, playing Fender Telecasters, rocked the house with the help of The Worlds Most Dangerous Band.

Mrs Syd used to really like Tom Waits. I was OK with it, but nothing special. Then Tom married Kathleen Brennan who introduced him to Capt. Beefheart's music. Mrs Syd hates his new music, but since Tom's weird now, I love it!

It was a time when I watched SNL. Can't remember the host, but I remembered the band. Cowboy Junkies played the usual two songs, including this cover. The following week on SNL a point was made that many calls asked whether the band was a skit or the musical guest. I'll be at a show later this year.

Went to see the legendary Riders in the Sky tonite. Great show, great players, better harmonies, decent jokes. Of course, they played this:

I just discovered these crazy bastards. Interesting band, that I can't fit into a genre. It's more like a play they put on. They do cover songs but not in their entirety. Very good musicians, for sure. Enjoy.

I have to post another song by The Blasters. It's the best break up song ever recorded.

A hundred years or so ago, I played a pre-CBS Fender P-Bass w/RotoSound round-wounds (darn near sounded like Chris Squire!) thru a '58 cream tweed Bassman head w/1 Peavy 2-15 cab and 1 Peavy 4-12. My last rig, some 20 years ago, was a blonde Rick 4001 thru a Behringer 1-15 solid-state amp. These days, I listen a lot. 😉 I've always liked The Blasters. Victor My favorite player on a Ric is Chris Squire. As a 12 year old listening on the radio, I knew it was special. Yes was special, and I generally hate long-winded songs. Let's keep this conversation going. You have a lot to offer me. My best attribute is stamina. I can keep a beat for the whole song. It's sadly rare, now. I challenge myself with Joe Dart nowadays.

The other night we went to the MIM (Musical Instrument Museum) and saw Old Crow Medicine Show. Wow! What a show. Energetic ++, everyone plays, well, everything, it seems. "Wagon Wheel" is a favorite, and this video has surprise guests. Ten MV points if you name them.

Syd My friend, a good tune like that with beautiful people really warms my heart. I love ASMR videos, like everyone else nowadays. Good song hooks make my hair stand up. Autonomous sensory meridian response. Good songs do that for me. To explain why has eluded me. It's like the argument of pornography. "I can't describe it, but I know it when I see it." Enjoy the song.

Somewhere along the line my iTunes music videos disappeared from the Apple TV. Dug around today to find and restore the files.
Kids spent hours watching these in their formative years so nice to have them back. Here's Gwen on a Vespa. |

I don't dig that techno song that much, but I love me some Gwen. I saw her with Sublime in the late 80s. She was wearing cholo khakis and a button-down plaid shirt those days. Striking beauty, and a voice that matched. I wasn't at this show, but it was epic. The guys from Sublime counterfeited laminated backstage passes and it got crazy. I think it was a KROQ show. This is Gwen singing her ass off with Bradley. Edit-Weenie roast, lol. Enjoy.

Lay back and run through everything you did wrong. It's like that argument that you have in your mind with her, and you know the way it ends. Every single time. You can't convey the way you love her, and she is incapable of understanding it even if you could.

Another artist I learned of in college (and never would have known back home) was Ry Cooder. I love this.

No computer emulators and such back then...it was all just their voices multi-tracked. Also, check out Godley & Creme's album L. Like the U.K. learner's driver tag. L. It's magnificent! |

Syd -- I used to play a LOT of Ry Cooder on the radio back in the mid/late 70s. If you haven't, you should check out the album LITTLE VILLAGE by the group of the same name that came out in 1992. It's Cooder, John Hiatt, Nick Lowe and Jim Keltner, and it SMOKES! Unfortunately, as with many things from Warner Bros. Records from the mid-'70s through the '90s, it was too hip for the room. Warner Bros. failed to promote it, and it disappeared. Bummer.
