A study in OG quality.
Look at the beveled edges of the fuel tap nut from an OG piaggio bike vs the repop stuff currently available…

The repop was not remotely close to fitting through the tank hole without major grinding.

Shiiiiiny.

My backing plate isn't quite that shiny, but it's pretty darn clean right now, at least. It spent a little quality time in the ol' ultrasonic parts washer last night and is now waiting for reassembly time.

Looking good, man!

I'll be assembling mine once my Scooters O order arrives. Got the linkage rebuild kit so I'm not pairing bent metal and rusty nails with a vapor blasted backplate. We have some sense of decorum here, yanno?

Parts are supposed to arrive tomorrow, but I got told to be in Las Cruces tomorrow so no brake building for me tomorrow night. Meh.

So I have an original ET3 axle.

Splines are ok.

Wear says 2k to 5k?

Do I pull the new CIF and load in the OG to keep plowing toward hamtown? Or do I pay the toll (and more f#%#g shipping) to run the new axle?
Ye olde axle.

I'd keep plowing to Hamtown, personally. But if you're not expecting to have the motor in the bike this weekend, you have time for a $2 nut (plus $10 shipping) before you *need* it.

Consider, also, that transport workers are conducting coordinated strikes across Germany right now for maximum disruption, so if you're not able to get the part from a stateside source, you may be waiting a while.

M16 - 1,25

I may be able to snag one at the hardware store… but it looks like there is a special basket retainer instead of a cotter pin and maybe a different spacer too?

I fear this ham bet may be lost. I will pull out the Kajit Magik Kanister. If the moons and tectonic plates are aligned proper it often produces the parts ones desires….

It's the same nut(M16 x 1.25, 24mm OD) and cage used on P series EFL/Lusso driveshafts.
7mm spacer washer. I don't think that changes but measure yours.
Don't forget a cotter pin for the cage

Trying to use as many OG Piaggio parts as I can… Turns out the "gently used" kickstart quadrant I had was fucky. (After the SS, what were the chances?!? Lolz) Anyway, I swapped it out for a re-pop, kickstart quad, and the cases went back together easily with no issues. But….what sucks is I blew through a gasket and do not have another small frame gasket on hand….. mrrrrph
