For now, I'm not a huge fan of having an all-electric auto, but I sometimes think about possibly getting a used Prius, because I do like the idea of an efficient gas/electric hybrid.
I should arrange to drive one sometime, I would almost certainly like it.
I got a 2017 non plug in model Prius, it's ugly, reliable well built car and geared like a scooter, really fast off the line compared to majority of econo and regular Joe cars but not a fast car overall.
We have hammered it in the city, 50mph speed limits, hills with the A/C almost always on and many long road trips to national forests and out of state sporting events, it has done very long stretches keeping up with the fasted packs of traffic 85-90mph traffic and does fine but not really made for that, I'll back off if battery power gets low (which is rare) as to not over tax the small ICE motor.
About 85,000 miles so far, it's the go to car for the family, whoever is going furthest takes it.
So far I have changed the oil and filter early about every 5000 miles with synthetic oil, replaced a battery, a couple air filters and one set of tires. Brake pads still at 50% plus of life.
Averaging about 43 miles per gallon but we drive it like a regular car in non optimal mileage conditions and don't watch the gas mileage meter.
Mileage really shines, 50mpg plus in flat cities with stop and go traffic light set ups and about the same on out and back freeways trips as long as we keep around 75mph or under.
We bought it new, paid $22k plus tax and licensing.
The newest Prius model is kinda futuristic and racer looking, not a fan at 28k list but probably a better car with more H/P than the last version.
Got my eye on the more sedate looking $24k Corolla hybrid for our next auto, my guess, probably comparable performance to my 2017 Prius.
