Hello Guys,

I considering swapping my 500cc engine to a newer 530cc version. My Bike is a Gilera Fuoco 500c 2010

I can buy a written off Piaggio Mp3 530cc, but most of the parts are burnt but the engine is perfect.

Would my older Fouco electrics be suitable to fit the 530cc engine?

Are there any significant changes on the new MP3 frame?

My knowledge is limited to basic servicing, if it is a straight swap can do it. I am just wondering wether anybody could give me some info regarding this project.

Thread on a similar project to change a 250cc into a 400cc
MP3 250 to 400cc/500c engine swap help

First thing to check is if the engine mounts line up. Second if its even physically going to fit into the frame. Third is you'll need the entire wiring harness from the 530cc along with figuring some way to mount it all that works. This wiring harness includes the large LCD screen, sensors, etc that are totally different from the older 2010 500cc bike. The engine and frame mount points are under allot of stress, if you cannot get it to mount cleanly and correctly then do not attempt it.

My 2 cents: Its a huge amount of trouble, expense, and time just to go from your current 500cc to a little more power in the 530cc. The value from such a project would be just for fun and challenge of doing such a swap.

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately that is what I was worried about. I cannot get the wiring from the donor bike. I was hoping somehow my old ecu and wiring could be tweaked to be able to run the 530 engine.

If it is not the case the project is ditched sadly.

depents on how you wanna swap! only engine no problem the reverse wont work so take it off replace it with the fuoco parts

if you want to swap throttlebody and so also you need a cableharness for the 530 including reverse, abs, asr system stuf a cableharnes of a 500 HPE advanced will work also

Hi Limalex
Turns out there is another way of doing the 500 to 530 engine update.

See this thread: Part number for the 530 Cylinder will fit 400/500 enginges

The thread was from last year so forgot all about it until it was updated that the project is starting. Give it a read through, it might give some inspiration on how to do the swap and engine increase.
