Hello, going to be storing my p2 in the basement for this winter, and would prefer to do so without gas in the tank. I was wondering what the best way to prevent the tank from rusting would be? Coat the inside of the empty tank with fogging oil? Would prefer a solution that doesn't involve removing the tank or cleaning out whatever is in there come spring time.
personally, I'd go buy two gallons of premix trufuel and run the tank down/drain it and fill it with that and call it winterized. just turn the tap off and let the bowl run out of fuel before putting it up.
I don't know about fogging oil and how it may or may not react once you put fuel back in. but some gas with a heavy dose of 2T sloshed around will stick around and protect for a good long while.
^^^^ That's how I do mine. 5 oz of oil and 5 oz of gas in the empty tank. Slosh it around real good. In the Spring, fill it with straight unleaded. Viola, 2 gallons of premix.
