Hey guys, I'm slowly stripping and repairing my et4 and have noticed the wires under the clocks are terrible all of them seem to have been cut and literally finger twisted together and to top it off masking tape over them, it's a good job I enjoy wiring, have a look, why would this of been done ??

Wha? emoticon Couldn't say why that's happened, hope you've left the seat on as you are going to be sat along time splicing them together, Plenty of solder, shrink tube, tea and a bit of back ground music you'll get thereπŸ˜‰πŸ‘

Someone bought replacements and wired them up. Either the scooter was an a crash and needed new ones or someone wanted to have lower numbers on the odometer.

I'm guessing that the original connectors at the dash were totally corroded and they sourced replacements and just hacked them in to get going.

the speedo cable looks new, so it's unlikely it was abused or neglected that badly.

get a wiring diagram, and just blast it out with a soldering iron and some shrink tube. tedious but doable job.

Well it does come with a spare clock and it has 28000 on it rather than 14k but checking the mot checker it's 14 and hasn't been moved since 2001 ,oh and both the clocks are toast tried new batteries in both, any one have a replacement πŸ˜‰

If it was my project I'd take the time to learn how to strip the front cover off, so you can see what's what. The inner (knee) side is harder to remove, but the front is pretty easy. I'd look for structure issues, just to be certain I know the whole situation.
