To get that high, at least one other person, and probably more, also thought it was worth stupid money.

Crazy money? Sure. But there's something irresistible about that narrow legshield.

Couldn't care less about the rarity, but it's a great design for a vintage scooter, the handlebars, leg shield shape, the seat, the tank.
It's pretty cool in my eyes. Great little details.

Good point, what ARE your nuts worth?
Nuts aside, as for value no way for me! That is crazy money, but who knows as an investment - this may be one of the best SS90s on the planet and there are many 'financially over endowed' collectors in Asia and Europe who wouldn't balk. But seems way beyond reason for those of us who just love these to wrench & ride . I wonder how that $20,000 50 Special did that had only THREE miles on it? https://www.scootnet2.net/1543 I don't want it after having the same bike for a while, even same color but more miles(like 7,XXX) mainly bc they have a damned THREE speed! And at least for over $40,000, this stunning 90 has a proper four speed. minty 50Special precious SS90 at twice the price |

They are definitely a different breed than other Vespas. But all those who say it's slow and rarity does not equal value: what about a 98? didn't Rolf's sell for $60K? (and I don't think that one eve had gas near it)

from a standpoint of "unmolested" and totally OG I can see an argument on the coin. but that's not for me.
I think there are some survivor bikes out there kicking around that would be just as desirable (again, to me) than this one at a much lower price point. is it cool? sure. is it worth that? maybe to somebody. but just looking at the pics, if you tried to go thru this and preserve it and make a functional, riding, enjoyable bike? you'd be soooo far into it. I mean just like filling five gallon buckets with hundred dollar bills and lighting them a blaze-- multiple times levels of spending. remember, there's an ass for every seat. and out there exists somebody that wants this solely for the reason to say that they have it and nobody else does. also, why is there grass all over the fan shroud and on the RH side of the bike? did they tip it over when taking pics? |

Looks like the value of SS is finally catching up with how much a bodge sells for on BaT

It's semi-amusing that the 90ss and the '66 Smallstate are very nearly the same bike. Smallstate is a lot cheaper.
