GTS300ie sat for 10 years. It's running now.
I know the usual things to do after an extended storage (flush gas tank, purge injector line, change oil/filter, bled brakes, lubed calipers,) but what, if anything, should be done to the ECU to insure smooth and dependable running??
It only has 12 total miles on it now.

Change also Brake fluid, coolant & tires.

You can check if there is a software update at your local dealer.

Should've added that in original post. Did a gravity bleed on the fluid.
Gonna hold off on tires for now; I never go over 30 or 40 mph. I'm older and just putt around my back roads in my rural town.
I've read about remapping issues and wonder if???
I don't want to get stuck.

10 years outside ...

All the above plus:

I'd be checking all rubber hoses - fuel lines in particular - for signs of cracking (mostly likely near the ends?)

And maybe replace the belt

Your age doesn't matter, but if the tires are old, then 10mph can be too much. Especially on side roads that may be wet and/or dirty (mud, leaves and/or grit).

Tyres have an age expiry and not just a wear based one.

It's quite common on vehicles that have been left for the rubber to perish and start to crack - which means the chance of a blow out is extremely high.

Tyres are much cheaper for scooters. Have a look at something like Pirelli Angel or Michelin City Grip 2 that give good performance if you get caught out in the rain.

I'd also be conscious of the drive belt condition as well. If you can change it yourself, it's not too expensive to do.

Keep an eye on the water pump weep hole. My red Honda sat for years and the water pump oil seal cracked. Started as a drop after each ride. After 200-300 miles, it became a puddle after each ride.

Purely out of curiosity, what's the story behind this Vespa? Why wasn't it used?

Original owner won in raffle. Was never a scooter guy, rode it once. It sat after that.
Attempted theft early on but just new lock and programmed keys
I have everything that comes with one when new.
All is good now.

You have covered most of the bases, like others have mentioned, tires and rubber components, at the end of the day its a machine and needs running and take it for a good run to get the engine and other components up to running temperature then once cool check all fluid/ oil levels, check over for any leakage and battery voltage as it held its charge😉👍.
P.S wish I could find a Scoot under a tarp with that millage on.

Found on Facebook marketplace.
Did all recommended servicing as per local dealer service department.
Turning out nice.
Used to have a repair shop, so a bit of knowledge.

you're not gonna want to hear it, but you'll likely need a fuel pump. the waterpump is 50/50, 50/50 & 100. 50/50 it blows straight away, 50/50 when it blows it comes out the weep hole or floods the crank case and 100% that it ruins your day.

same on the trans clutch. the belt could be fine and run awhile or it could be straight trash, guaranteed the transmission needs checked and lubed though.

so, it's up to you how much PM you want to do.

sitting just kills these things.

This is what I want to hear. TY for responding and telling me.
I like doing the PM. I'm retired and it's what I enjoy doing.
First order of business is to drive it. I'm in a very rural area, with miles of quiet roads. I'll put hundred miles or so then decide what to do.

**Water pump if needed - I'll probably do an overhaul with OEM kit very reasonable.
**Trans lube - I'll pull cover off and lube variator, clean rollers + slides, check for corrosion. I'll blow out clutch and lube. R & R gear box lube.
**Fuel pump - RECALL??? check on that first. They usually act up first. I know what to expect; I'll be close to home. Is there an aftermarket pump that's recommended?? Sometimes OEM is not always the best like on my Polaris. Out of tank would be preferable. For OEM any recommendations on source?
Awaiting your reply or anyone else.
I don't mind overkill as long as it's not unnecessary and just a waste.
I'm never on the freeway or far from home.
T. Y. all.

sounds like you got key situation handled, which is good because that can get costly.

for future edification, the lock cylinder that is welded to the frame is available as a spare part.

anyway, since it's mostly open, I'd probably replace any of the single use clamps on the cooling hoses. if you haven't done a coolant flush it would be a good idea. do a thermostat at the same time, it's cheap and easy. check the coolant tank and cap carefully for any kind of deterioration, for some reason them things like to turn into dust.

check and lube the steering bearings, along with the throttle cables and controls.

you can pick up an aftermarket pump for the fuel pump off ebay and amazon pretty cheap, but the assembly requires a bit of modification, and the whole thing might be compromised anyway. personally, I like sticking with the OEM unit and it's plug and play. also it's a tad involved to swap a pump, so I don't like to gamble on aftermarket parts there. https://scooterpartsco.com can sort you out on the pump (and whatever else you may need).

the variator doesn't get any lube. just check and clean. give the belt and eyeball and see how it looks. all the rest you got it.

I didn't see it on the list, but def check the air filter. it's likely dust.

everybody already told you, but I'll add: do the tires.

You've done essential PMs, ride it up to running temperature close to home, should anything else require attention it will let you know.

GREAT help and suggestions. TY greasy for elaborate details.
Fuel pump is cheap - er at scooterpartsco.
I have a strong motorcycle background and pretty well outfitted shop so I make or repair much of what I can on the simple things; hate to pay and then wait for those parts and I like using my machines.
I've already done some of what's mentioned for PM Less than $500 will bring it up to a high level of confidence.
If I sell it I will get top dollar and state everything that's been done. Smarter people usually feel pretty good about buying from me.
