Hypothetically, if Vespa were no longer produced, what would you buy that would have the same style, good looks and feeling that a Vespa gives you?
Just curious...

My first thought was the Lambretta but not so sure about the quality ...
Or maybe the Royal Alloy. And sadly evs in the class aren't ready for my needs yet. Don't think I'd leave this style of scoot as I am deliberately staying away from motorcycles and big maxi scoots as I know I'd fall to temptation and fatally hug a tree. ⚠️ Last edited by SteelBytes on UTC; edited 1 time

Nothing that I can think of can match the first two. Feeling? I don't know about that one though. If I was to buy another scooter, it would probably be a Suzuki 400 Burgman or possibly another 650 Burgman, but there's a reason that I went directly to Vespa to salve my scooter 'itch', and really, nothing else will quite do the same for me. Without the Vespa, I might just abandon scooters altogether and stick with motorcycles. |

I'd be happy to try the Yamaha X300 if the GTS was unavailable.
As for small frame scooters in Canada nothing interests me at the moment. We don't have Lambrettas or Royal Alloy here |

Peugeot of course. SYM scooters in a nicer dressing.
Had a Peugeot bicycle in the eighties imported directly from France. Came with a yellow bulb in the headlight. |

If Vespa stopped producing bikes in 2024, I could continue riding new-to-me 16 year old Vespas until 2050... What would I ride after that? I don't know. Ask me in 2050. I'll be in my early 60s and hopefully still above ground and riding. |

The already made Vespas would be first. But if I could not have them then, Royal Enfield, Royal Alloy, Triumph, old Ducatis, and almost any motorcycle from the 20s and 30s.

It would have to be the Royal Alloy for me too, not as stylish as a Vespa but not a bad alternative.

If I had to give up my Vespas (all four of them), I still have two Yamahas to ride, an Xmax 300 and Zuma 125.
They are fine scooters that I enjoy much, especially the Xmax. I would probably add a Honda ADV 160 for some additional fun and Cannonballs. Luckily hypothetical questions (that I interpreted differently on purpose) are only that and not binding. I will be keeping my three old Vespas and one new GTS for a long time. No reason to be buying another for a many years. Bill

Having been into Lambretta's and Vespa's since my mid teens it goes against the grain a bit but it would be Royal Alloy, my sons just bought a new GT and I was quite surprised, Internally not dissimilar to a Vespa, build quality could be Improved, but hey the on road price is great.

Honda SH. The 3 best selling scooters in Italy in 2018 (or something like that) were Honda SH. 125,150 and 300 engine sizes. 300 has been replaced with 350.
I rode a 2021 150 for almost 10000 km. Whenever I meet the guy I sold it to I offer to buy it back. ![]()

I have had a new Peugeot Django, nice scooter but couldn't get on with the seating position so off it went. I have a Lambretta Pato 151n as known in the UK got it with 80 miles from new cheap and done the usual fluids, belt, tyres etc being a 2016 model known Stateside as a Lance Milan and seems OK.
The only thing I miss is the comfort of the seat and the handling of the 10 inch wheels so when another ET4 comes along that is what I shall be getting and keep this Lambretta as a winter scooter. ![]() ![]()

Yes. I thought that. The 150 would be the cats ass. And air cooled. I had to think of something quick so Honda came to mind. LOL

If I couldn't get a Vespa, and didn't already have one, and other Piaggio products weren't an option, I think I'd have to cast another vote for the Peugeot Django. Of course, that would depend on whether or not they would dare bring them to North America, where I currently reside.

I have never bought a new vehicle and I'm pretty sure I never will. If Vespa went out of production it would not affect me except that the price of used Vespas would go up.
If there were a law banning Vespas from the road I would not ride. Nothing else interests me. At 62 I'm starting to think I might want to quit in a few years anyway. An injury from a crash would be harder to recover from now than in my younger days.

If I had good dealer support for a new Vespa I'd have one already, but I don't. So I bought what I would call the entry level to quality scooter ownership, the Genuine Buddy 125. Actually my 4th Genuine Buddy. I would love a new Lambretta 300 but again, no good support. Nothing else new does it for me. I don't care for motorcycles anymore.
I wouldn't mind another P200E Vespa, or maybe go in the other direction and get another Honda Elite 250 and restore it. Both of these scooters are obviously old now and I know the Honda is more complicated because of the radiator. No one ever changes the coolant on one.

I like my Yamaha SMax quite a lot. It's fast, handles really well, and gets good gas mileage. Unfortunately it's been discontinued.
That Peugeot Django is a looker! but unavailable in the US The Piaggio BV400 is one I'm realistically considering in the future. |

I am with Federale and WLeuthold. The Yamaha XMax is a fine machine. One of the riders in my group has one. Very fine.
T.S.Zarathusra, Is that Honda series available in the USA? I have always loved Honda. I and, as an old fart, probably out of the buying market. My GTS 300 Super and Kymco AD550 will last through my unknown number of riding years left. Bob Copeland |

If no Vespa I would go with the Honda ADV150/160. The dirt biker in me is attracted to the "looks" of the thing. Hopefully it does what Honda does best; vanilla, low maintenance, and practicable
This year while running packages to the post office, I logged 3600 miles on a little Honda Elite 110. It lives life WFO and gets flogged. With only basic preventative maintenance, it just gets 'er done, no worries, who cares about scratches, just gas and go. That experience is what made me appreciate the Honda build quality. |

Everywhere else seems spoiled for choice. Canada understandably has a minuscule scooter market - people just don't ride them here.
Aside from electric Chinese junk, you can mainly choose between the Honda ruckus (no SH or ADVs), Aprilia's SR50, the Suzuki Burgman, Yamaha Xmax, and (fortunately) every Piaggio or Vespa. |
