I noticed an abraded section of my positive battery cable housing. I don't think it's a critter related issue. It looks to be the outer sheath, but wanted to see if anyone thought a replacement was urgent. Thanks!

Get some self-amalgamating tape (a.k.a. rescue tape) and cut about a 6" length. Stretch it a bit a few times (this helps it adhere to itself) and then wrap it around. That'll make a waterproof insulating layer that'll stop any moisture or humidity corroding the wire.

Thanks Jim! I was not looking forward removing and replacing the original, which seems to be very well wrapped with other wires up along the side of the frame.

Seems like good tape to have on hand.

Agreed 100%. Silicone rescue tape is perfect for this situation (and many others, too).

Can you see what it's rubbing on? After you repair, it'd be a good idea to zip tie the cable to keep it away from whatever is chafing.

Stretchy, and sticks to itself but nothing else. It's amazing.

us old Air force flight line guys call it F4 tape, you can get it in various colors and it almost always has a stripe down the middle which goes to the outside when wrapping BTW.

Never seen a stripe, and there's no inside or outside.
