Had a charging problem for a while on the Fuoco (2008 model with 40K KMS on it)
I'm only getting around 10VAC out of my stator at 2500rpm but it tests OK with a small lamp load on the circuit. I have a spare from a parts bike and have stripped it out for exchange.
But....If the current one tests OK Am I wasting my time? I have done all the circuit tests, new regulator and fixed the hidden fuse (original source of the issue).
Also anyone resealed the case with liquid gasket instead of the paper one? Difficult here in Rural Victoria (Aus) to get spares quickly, if at all!
Would like the scooter back on the road as I have had it since 2010 and really enjoy it's smooth ride.
Thanks

Thanks for the link. I have already done that test and the volts are too low, so it looks like a problem in my existing bike.
I was wondering how I could do a similar test on the one I removed from the parts bike before I fit it?

Also really interested in knowing it a liquid gasket will work to reseal the case?

Thanks!

Liquid gasket can glue the thing together
High temp or other silicone, that's for contact with oil & gas might be better

Making a gasket isn't out of the question.
Which side engine or cover depends on whats in the way
Make the hole for the pin[s] 1st, put the cardboard or paper on the cover, tap with a plastic hammer , trace the outline with a pencil, as long as the bolt holes are decent & you have coverage on the mating surfaces, it doesn't have to be perfect & you can trim the outside with a blade once it's assembled

Thanks, Yes I thought about getting some sheet gasket as well but I would have to wait for a week or so for it to be delivered to my remote location. I was at one time a ships engineer so quite used to making my own gaskets.
I have now found a supplier relatively local who has the gasket in stock so all good for that.

I have used liquid gasket on the motor side of the gasket & never sieze on the cover side, so I don't have to replace the gasket every time I remove the cover

Postmortem......Just to close this post I would like to advise the outcome...
I had a rethink about the issue and rechecked the readings again. Was getting a good output from the stator so went back to the regulator, a new one from Ebay (China supplier).
7V readings, so, decided to buy another regulator and found a china supplier that gave me more confidence and offered fast delivery.
Received it in 4 days from order to Australia and a further 8 days for Aus Post to deliver(grrr...)
Look better quality and fitted perfectly and it WORKED!! SO the Fuoco is back on the road finally.
So thanks to all those who commented and I appreciate the advice. Now back to enjoying the smooth ride on this fantastic large scooter.

You were lucky on the delivery it seems to take 14 days for anything from China to get through customs.
