Thanks!
Scarabeo....I knew I'd seen that distinctive shape before. Years ago outside a restaurant in St Pete Beach, FL. Nice soft periwinkle blue. Probably a 50cc.After that, and seeing a Honda SH...I knew I wanted a big wheel scooter! So, my Liberty! (2017, no other big wheel, step-thru scooter in the USA) Thanks again... O.S. |

The only Kymco step through I might have wanted to take a look at was the sleek People One - which was not offered in the States. Also, if I wanted more scooter than a 150 - I would have kept my handsome Burgman. I only buy scooters that I like the looks of. They don't have to be step-throughs. O.S. |

When I got back into two wheeling 20 years ago, I purchased a 2003 Scarabeo 150. The larger wheels really made the 1500cc scoot go pretty fast. I was able to ride on the freeway. Eventually, I moved up to a Burgman 400. I liked that Aprilia Scarabeo.
Bob Copeland Here was my Scarabeo.

So it was likely sold by an Aprilia or Aprilia and Moto Guzzi dealer, like Motoitalia, for those of you who were near San Mateo at that time. Aprilia and Moto Guzzi weren't offered as a package deal with Piaggio and Vespa to dealers until later. The Scarabeo was a great scooter, and Piaggio tried to break it off from Aprilia, but that made no sense. |

I've always really liked the Scarabeo, ever since I first saw one on Aprilia's web site back in 2004. By the time I got around to shopping for one, they were gone. But the Liberty is pretty close to it, from what I can tell. I didn't get a Liberty 150, but I'd love to one day. Actually, an electric Liberty would be awesome! If that never materializes, then I'll probably get a BV400 one of these days.

OldSchooot,
I wanted to get back into two wheeling but not on a motorcycle. This was kind of a change of life whim, so I didn't want to spend a lot of money. I liked the Vespa at my local scooter dealer, but they were a little pricey for me. I found this 2003 Aprilia Scarabeo 150 out in the country West of the Twin Cities at a motorcycle dealer in Delano Minnesota. Obviously, motorcycle country. This new scoot had been on the showroom floor for over a year unsold. I recognized the Scarabeo from one running around my neighborhood. Evidently, the motorcycle dealer had unsuccessfully tried a line of scooters in He-man country. I made a ridiculous low offer like $1800 and got it. I later started riding with my current Maxi-Scooter group and needed a larger machine. In 2007 I traded in the Scarabeo for a Suzuki Burgman 400. I rode that Burgman for 14 years. Third scoot - still ride

I picked up a clapped-out Beo 200 to fix as a club loaner. It served well during our annual rally and since then, I've been riding it occasionally for variety.
First big-wheeler I've owned. Doesn't seem as flick-able as my smaller-wheeled scoots, but it is very smooth, stable and quicker than the engine and chassis let on. I might throw a few CVT bits on to see what it can do. 2008 Scarabeo 200
