Hi I was offered this 1966 "150 Super". It's been in an office for many years and was acquired as part of a collection of various bikes. A friend was concerned it could be a Bodge. I read a lot of threads and watched several comprehensive videos... Still questioning, although I don't see items mentioned in my research such as welds or bondo. The odometer reads 24 miles which I don't believe is real as it looks restored-ish.. One item I noticed is the fender is damaged right below the fork and it looks like there is paint of a different color below. Maybe all Bodge's are not created equal? Any thoughts appreciated. My first post here so if I missed the mark please advise.

The scooter has some "bodge" features like the very low mileage, the individual seats, lots of add on chrome, but none of those are definitive features making it a bodge. Greater minds than mine will be along shortly to advise further.
What colour are the stand feet?

about as bodge as you can get without going two tone and yellow boots.
key under the seat, legshield trim that turns into floor runner... the list goes on. to be clear these "not correct details" are not the issue, but they are a tell of the mess you are likely to find under the paint and in the mechanicals.

Thank you greasy125 pigletpilot oopsclunkthud for the quick and decisive responses. I think there needs to be a sub forum here called "Bodge Busters". Glad I posted here!

Yeah not all bodges are equal.
There's bad, then there's worse. Never seen a good bodge, ever, it's always a journey for all of them. I've never redone a bodge, not worth my time, usually the owner ignores most of the bad stuff with the "bargain" they just picked up and thinks it's just the way it is. |

First off, OP, as you correctly note, all bodges are not created equal. Some are even worse than others.
Also, how did no one mention the legshield glovebox? That, along with the "ran when parked" Not to mention the fact that they didn't even get *pop rivets* right on the floor rails. I mean...how do you screw up *pop rivets* FFS? Other telltales: Chrome topper on the fork tube. Drilled holes for mounting all that crappy chrome. 10" wheels on an 8" bike. My only advice is to steal the fire extinguisher before you pour gasoline on it and set it on fire so no one can put it out. |
