Does anyone know of a dog carrier which can be attached to the luggage rack on the back of a 150 Primavera, large/safe enough for a 14kg dog?
Most things I've seen advertised seem to be for very small little dogs and are almost a backpack.
Thanks for any thoughts you have...

LoL!!! Thanks, mate! How many cranks are required on the "rear connector" to ensure a secure fit?

There is a pet carrier in Europe for pets on 2 wheels: POW

https://www.petonwheels.eu/

I believe these boxes are for up to 10kg tested.

I have seen these box two or three times, it's really BIG… and the largest I know.

Please bear in mind that there are several factors to consider here:

Load-bearing capacity of the rear rack
Load capacity of the box
Size AND weight of the dog

This (or a comparable) box is mounted relatively high up and at the rear, which is unlikely to have a particularly pleasant effect on handling.

I've not seen a carrier for a big dog on a Vespa but recently saw one on a Royal Enfield Himalayan. Both scooter and motorcycle have the same rear rack weight limit warnings. The fellow who had this carrier with a 60 pound dog fabricated it himself. And the luxurious seating for the dog as well. It would definitely require some engineering on a GTS since it really isn't designed to bolt a lot of stuff on the back like you can with a motorcycle.

The rider is an engineering tech at Penn State who builds stuff for some sort of aerospace projects. So he knows how to design, source materials, and construct something like this.

My dog would never sit still for such action but his loves it. The dog wears goggles on long trips but for short runs to this store he doesn't.

It was quite a sight...

You definitely would need a dog who was calm and collected. I am not a big fan of riding two up with animals. I do know some of you do enjoy it.

I saw one similar to this before posting above. Quite easy to commission if one knows of a ratan furniture shop.

You'll have a tough time carrying a dog bigger than 20-22 pounds on a scooter, especially without modifications. But a custom build is likely not that tough.

I have seen where folks will modify a traditional top case to accommodate their dog.

On a serious note, great people who make doggo carriers and are raising a lot of money for a great cause:

I tried to find one similar to one I saw at a gas station last summer. It was very similar to this. It's rated to 30lb so depending on the shape of your dog it may work. Good luck. Oh and I can't vouch for the company in the link as I have never ordered from them before.

Some years ago, I (as the CEO and R&D head of the BacklundCo company), developed a canvas dog carrier for automobiles that certainly could be modified for use on motorcycles and larger scooters.

I'll look into it. Besides dogs, it may also have some practical application for transporting excess or problematic children.

We at BacklundCo Corporation had originally designed our canvas car-side carrier to externally transport stringed musical instruments, later modifying it to accommodate medium to large canines.

We use this for our almost 40lb Vizsla, in the passenger spot for our gts 300.

Kuryakyn 5723 Titan Pet Palace: Portable Weather Resistance and Heat Reducing Motorcycle Dog/Cat Carrier Crate for Touring Seat, Black Large https://a.co/d/02a6BL2

I wouldn't be opposed to using it on my Liberty 150... But my dog is an Aussie, and at 50lb, he's over the weight limit!!

Our V LOVES riding in it - and the carrier also doubles as extra storage space for Costco runs. (ScooterLogistics!)

Wow, you animal people are something. I would think you would have to have one calm pooch. What happens when he sees a squirrel or cat close by? Do you have them secured so they can not jump out?

Hey, with the dog leash laws, all kinds of wild animals are everywhere in the city. How would your scooter riding dog react to a wild turkey near by? Gobble gobble!

Bob Copeland
Almost hit this same turkey on a ride last season. There was a gaggle of them. It was all assholes and feathers as we dodged them.

She's secured. She's in a harness, clipped to the inside of the bag. (She's also ridden in scooters since she was about 5 months old. Started it in the footwell, secured to the helmet peg.)

V's are also pretty Velcro dogs. Even hiking off leash, she doesn't get too far away. Shed probably alert off a turkey if she saw it, but doesn't chase them normally. We also have turkeys (and squirrels and cats and the like) nearby that we need to dodge while riding.

Edited because autocorrect is strange.
