I am replacing the fuel pump, 2nd one, in a 2006 GTS 250. I was curious to see the level sensor bottom position compared to pump intake and noticed metal flakes in bottom of tank.
I think should be caught by filter but going to empty and clean tank.

Has anyone seen this before? Cause and where are flakes from?

Can you indicate on the picture what are the flakes?

Can't really tell from the photo if that looks like flakes or just reflected light. I imagine that in person it's much clearer?

Also unclear what it could be from.

So I got nuthin'.

Looks like threads of metal on the inside lip of the gas tank. Other than that, I won't know where they are coming from. Why don't you run a magnetic pick up tool down there and see what you can catch?
