Hi everyone,
2014 Vespa GTS 250i.e. 45.ooo miles on the clock.
This morning bike stopped suddenly during running. I stopped, got the bike on the safety strip, the dash lights were on. I tried to start the bike but starter motor didn't turn but the lights were on.
I waited 2 more minutes, got the scoot on center stand. And again hit the starter switch and the bike ran fine, I got 20 miles without a problem afterwards.

Any ideas? What can be the problem? Wha? emoticon

My first two immediate thoughts are both electrical. The first and easiest to check or diagnose is the kill switch, which does fail occasionally. Also, sometimes just because it gets nudged by accident.

The second possible culprit is the spark plug cap -- make sure it's fully seated on the spark plug. It takes a pretty good amount of effort to get it to snap correctly into place.

If the spark plug cap was loose it might explain the engine stopping - but it wouldn't explain the starter not working afterwards. I'd be exercising that kill switch, and ordering a replacement.

That's a good point.

Glad it worked! My GTS250 will occasionally not start (starter doesn't turn) if I shut it down and try to start it again within 5 minutes or so. I've never found anything wrong, and it starts again after a few more minutes of waiting. This usually happens at the liqour store on the way home from work. It's scary, since I have no trailer or way to haul my scooter should I break down.

Didn't the GTS250 have fuel pump recalls for these symptoms? Pump overheats and binds up?

Here are some threads for you to consider in case it applies:
GTS 250 2008-2010 models fuel pump recall
GTS 250 Fuel Pump
GTS 250 Fuel Pump Recall again !

That won't stop the starter turning!

I missed that detail... sorry! Too caught up on the starting again when it cools down.

Thanks for the correction. My bad Facepalm emoticon

Heh! No worries - I've made several similar missteps in the past myself.
