My apologies I have a wheel chock already. It served me well at ground level when I repaired a blown head gasket and water pump on my GTS. I will use it on a home made platform if I do that.

Yeah, the footprint of that thing on the floor is nowhere NEAR enough for me to consider putting it half that high.

I have a lovely little platform jack-table from Amazon for getting it off the ground and balanced to where wheels can come off. So like.....2 inches of clearance is really the max needed and it does that fine. I can sit on the asphalt and do the things needing done.

A bit of a question about table lifts, are they as useful as they look, and what do you do with it when its not being used, can it sit flat on the floor with a bike parked on it?

Yes they do sit flat on floor. I didn't get one in the end.

They are exceptionally useful, especially if you have bad knees and back like me. I keep a bike on mine at all times when it's not being used.

They don't exactly fit "flat" on the floor. Mine is about 6" high when fully lowered. I park my motorcycle on it so it's not just taking up floor space when I'm not working on the bike. I consider my lift table one of the most useful tools I own. It has saved me so much back pain. It's a pleasure to work on a bike when you don't have to wreck your back in the process.
Fully lowered. There is a ramp that attaches at the back to make loading/unloading a breeze.

Second best thing I ever bought (after my PX150, of course).
With a rolling mechanics stool from Harbor Freight it sure makes working on the scooter sooooo much easier.
I got the Sport Bike one:
https://www.kendonusa.com/collections/stand-up-folding-motorcycle-lifts
It collapses and stands up on one end.
Back when I got mine I thought it was almost too expensive at $700.
Now it's up to $1195... Yow! Wha? emoticon

Yikes! I only paid $500 including delivery for mine. They've really gotten pricey.

i was originally planning on a 2-post lift in the garage to ease auto maintenance but i'm starting to think a 4-post drive-on with some front wheel chocks may just be the better option....

Four posts are more stable. Especially if you're doing things like removing large heavy components that drastically change the center of balance. Lots of YouTube videos showing cars falling off 2 post lifts when the center of balance changes because the engine is removed, etc. Facepalm emoticon

I'd definitely have an auto lift in my garage if I had the overhead height to use it. Sadly, I do not. I'm stuck with jack stands and a creeper. Oldschool style. 😂

thankfully the midlife crisis won't be one of the ones that requires engine removal for timing belt swap.

pretty sure i just narrowed that down a whole lot too for the kids playing along at home Razz emoticon

My midlife crisis. Only 575 built world wide. It's slightly modified. Made 400awhp on the dyno running 85% ethanol fuel.

mine will be something mid-engined and likely a flat-plane crank.

I have a MaxJax two post mid height lift and wouldn't be without it.

It fits in a 7 ft ceiling and lifts 48 inches. I use an office chair to work under cars. It is semi portable and uses drop in anchors. It can be unbolted and moved out of the way when not being used but I never move mine. They make a motorcycle adapter that goes onto one of the posts. It can work with 220 or 110 volts. I have 220 in my garage but it's on the opposite wall. It works fine on 110.

You should check it out.
