Just finished another locals scoot. Some older bolt on Polini kit with a Sito +. Dove in for a shift cross and all the gears looked suspect. Ordered new 125 gears and found out they were wrong (except first). Counted teeth and everything 200! I didn't think a 150 kit could pull 200 gears but I guess it can.

Has anyone else seen this? Any not so obvious reason why?

Newer EFL gears are all the same. Just 4th is 35 or 36. This might be what you were looking at.

1980 American spec P125 model. Definitely old style, not EFL. Trying to figure out what the prior owner knew/ why the whole swap.

Isn't it the gear on the primary that makes the ratio different between the 150 and 200?

Looking at the technica book for 1977-1980 models, P125s had 22/67 with 57, 54,48,44 tooth gears.

P200, 23/65, 57,42,38,35.

1981 on- Piaggio changed the P125 to 20/68, 58,42,38,36 and then doesn't show anything else regarding gears on any of the future models.

I'll have to steal this guys kitted 125 and do some speed tests with it. See how it stacks up to a P200. Might be fun for a future build since I have more P200 gears lying around than 125.

I remember reading your speedy threads. They were very encouraging to read after being told that 8" scooters weren't really suitable for long distance travel.
