Hey there!! So I think I'm missing something here

Replacing gear cables in my allstate tryin to get her on the road, and got stuck at a pretty stupid place to be stuck at it. How do I attach the ends of the gear cables in the fastener (dunno if that's right word for it). Attaching picture

Thank you all in advance,
I'm sure it's simple

Managed to get both in, but it's snagging on this little lip from the washer. Attaching pic….

In theory after this I adjust by the gearbox selector and should be good to go?

You're on the right track! Snug them up, then adjust at the selector box.

You got this!

The lower cable top hat isn't seated in it's socket.
You need to clamp the cable to the outer under the bike so you can pull them both up. You can use a pinch bolt, or better, a cable tensioner aka 4th hand tool.
20 bucks on Amazon worth every penny.

Pull them up maybe 3/4" past the seat and push them back down into their seats with a screwdriver. Rotate the headset to confirm they don't pull out.
