Second week in a row (yeah, yeah...I know), my Scooter-Center order has made it from Köln to Nashville in two days via UPS.
I ordered some hub studs for my new tubless rims, along with a couple other bits n' bobs on Monday afternoon my time. It arrived earlier today after shipping out on Tuesday. What's really crazy is that by the time the markup of the domestic sources was considered, it was THE SAME TOTAL COST to have it shipped from Germany versus buying domestically. (For the record, I tried to buy them domestically, but there was not a single domestic supplier who had eight Lambretta hub studs in stock) |

Gotta throw some props to Scooter-Center today. When I put my big parts order in on Wednesday, I accidentally included a backordered part.
When I realized this morning (so two days later) that it hadn't shipped, I went in to take a look at realized what I'd done. Sent them a message via their Contact Us form asking them to remove the backorder and ship the rest. They responded to me in twenty minutes (this is Friday afternoon their time, remember) letting me know they'd removed the backordered part and credited me for the cost. Within fifteen minutes of that, I got the shipping notification, so if I get lucky and UPS picks up this afternoon rather than on Monday, I should have my parts early or middle of next week.

Rad.
Let us know how the tariffs/duty/doodie affect the end cost after import. MJRally's latest SIP order BS has me thinking a flight to Germany and some smuggling may be cheaper than a scooter parts order. |

Can't we end this trade war idiocy and get back to the days where tariffs from the EU (and pretty much everywhere else) were less than sales tax?

Seems like FedEx and UPS are still going to keep shipping. Or if they're not the story didn't say it
ropping the de minimus exemption to $100 is still gonna hurt, though. |

Vape for the Minarelli was ordered August 29th. The kit was $356.53 and shipping was $51.45.
I just got the UPS tariff invoice for that shipment. Invoiced on September 9th and due on the 20th. Glad they got it to me on the 22nd; there better not be a fee for bureaucratic delays. The invoice is for $152.68. There was a 25% tariff on the Vape, plus a 2.5% bonus tariff for some reason. The big surprise was the 50% tariff on the shipping! Tariffs totalled $123.68. Then came the fees. The disbursement fee, entry line charge and COD fee added $29.00 on top. This had better be going towards paying down the deficit. |

a large amount of the tariff codes that SIP uses for scooter parts starts with 8714.10.90. This is motorcycle other other. Like misc. Well under the new agreement with the European Union this code is a minimum 15%. Then you are supposed to supply the % of steel this part contains that was produced outside of the USA. 0% steel then 15% tariff. 100% steel then 50% tariff. Its a sliding scale
Well UPS just makes the custom entry saying everything is 100% steel, doesn't ask and charges you 50% plus another 2.5%. The invoice comes 2 weeks after you receive the goods. I have received two multi-thousand dollar invoices this month. You call the import invoice nr on the UPS website and the hold time is 2+ hours. Just like Vespa Portland said, not sustainable.

This is now 4 month I'm fighting SIP for another story, I know what I'm talking about |
