Somehow this didn't post. Anyway, taking a turn...
Picked this up in New Mexico a dozen years ago. Don't wear it often, but still a favorite.

He is adorned with a beret which is standard Richard Thompson fashion.." Whew! Almost ready to fling the beret. |

This one has always been my favorite hat, but unfortunately (?) it remains merely an 'Artist's Concept'.
My 'Cosmic Cowboy Rockabilly Rocketeer' hat design from twenty-five years ago. It's SO old, that it's honest-to-gosh airbrush on illustration board, nary a speck of computer in the thing. Would I wear it? Probably not.

I have 2 similar hats. The one I am wearing I use when going out with the wife as she bought it for me. The other of a slightly lighter colour I wear for work etc.
That way if I am out with the wife I won't forget the first one she will remind me. The second one I get messages from various places that I have left my hat behind 🙂

I tend to only wear a hat if I haven't combed my hair on the weekend. I have a few baseball caps that I wear. I tend to wear the same one every time, until I get tired of it. For a while I wore the one I got from the Anheuser Busch Brewery Tour in St Louis:
![]() My current favorite is one I got from Hyundai. It has the Hyundai logo on the front (off center), and text on the back. I don't have any pics of me wearing it, only of the text: ![]() When it's cold, I sometimes will wear a crochet beanie that I made myself. I have two that I like: ![]() ![]() I also have that IKEA bucket hat that jess posted earlier. It comes in handy if I have to go out in the yard when it's raining. If I'm going to be spending a lot of time out in the sun, I have a boonie hat that I got at the Memphis Zoo. No pics of it, though.

I really only wore this hat on one day but it floats around the garage to remind me that things used to be…different. The day was Mardi Gras, 1991 when as the guest of a marching society we marched in the front door and out the back door of about 15 bars, picking up a drink in a go cup on the way. And that was just the part before 9:00 a.m. It went on from there until we were marching down the middle of Canal Street, trading paper flowers for kisses amidst some serious celebratory activities. If hats could talk, I would interview this one, if only to find out about some things I am alleged to have done that I'm not at liberty to remember.

I got to thinking about this last night. I actually DO have a favorite hat, but I need to find it.
I've been skating a long time. I have an old Bauer baseball cap that I wore exclusively with wheels on my feet. Backward, of course, because it's just cooler that way. I was wearing it when my Racerblades gave out. ![]() And when my Bauer F3s gave out. ![]() Now that I'm older and wiser I've swapped it out for a new hat to go with my new skates. ![]() I'm not a hat guy, but that old Bauer cap and I have been through a lot together. I need to find it. |

My standard outdoor activity hat. It's allegedly Australian, it is oilskin, and after 35 years is still serviceable and waterproof.
And in case you're wondering, no, I didn't catch anything on that trip. But I did get my arrow wedged under a rock and had to dive for it. Fishing arrows are hard to find up here.

I have a reasonably full head of hair, but have made a habit of wearing a hat whenever I'm outdoors for the last 6-7 years. Being a ginger, I burn easily, and it took me until my early 50s to figure out that I needed a hat. |
