I skimmed through the description on SIP site but I guess I wanted first hand info if the SIP speedos work without battery models? I'm dropping in a PX engine into a VNB, it will be running standard ignition system (stator, ducati CDI) so just needs to run the lighting circuit and the SIP speedo.
Yes, it works. Just give it a 12V AC input to the black power box.
If you have a 5-wire stator, three wires go to the CDI including the kill wire, there's one 12V AC input to the consumers and the ground. Those two you connect to the speedo.
Yes, works fine but will turn off when idle is low. If you have a Euro style stator in your engine, connect brown and red to 12V regulated AC and black to ground…
It will work but not well with ac. The Speedo will turn off at idle and have to wait for the startup sequence. Get the sip ac to dc converter made by the same company that makes the Speedo, Koso. Worth every penny and easy if following the included directions.
