A guy that I know here in Thailand is selling a few bikes and emptying his bank account to try buy an all original, original paint Vespa GSVS5 that's come up for sale for 1,450,000 Thai baht which is about US$41,400 at today's exchange rate. There are several potential buyers, so he's worried he might lose out if he can't sell the bikes he's put up for sale to get the cash ready. The current owner bought it from a well known collector ten years ago for 400,000 baht (US$11,400). That's a 1,000,000 baht (US$30,000) jump in ten years.

The market here is going frigging nuts.

I just thought I'd share that for some global perspective.

I've known the Asian markets to be absolute nuts, but that is wild.

The USA is absolutely undervalued by our own devices. It carries through just about all areas in respect to vintage and traditional scooters; from parts, to service, to the scooter itself.

I guess Thailand might be classified as one of the so-called "shithole countries" that a particular former US government employee referred to these types of countries as. However, there's some folks walking around here with some serious pocket change. I ain't nearly in that league.

If I get a photo of it, I'll pass it on here.
