The planets have mysteriously lined up for a change, and a no-doubt brief 'window of opportunity' has cracked open, and I find myself having a few extra bucks laying around to blow on frivolous stuff...like scooter 'stuff' perhaps?
But there's really not much out there being offered for the bike that has any appeal to me, probably because the Vespa is functionally quite satisfactory as it is for my purposes, and there's only a sparce few items that have much chance of enhancing that functionality in a meaningful way.
Heated grips might be one, and there were times that I would have definitely used them, but I have a pair of rechargeable-battery heated gloves that work well enough for rides of not more than 1.5-2 hrs.
I don't have any interest in windshields for the Vespa, and in fact gave away the tall factory windshield that was on the bike when I bought it, and never regretted doing it.
I have never liked the appearance of that light tan
seat that comes on the deep metallic blue GTS300, and have been considering one of those nice Cheeky Seats seat covers, but cannot decide which of them would look the best on my Vespa.
There were times when a decently-sized rear chrome parcel rack would have come in handy, but the ones I've seen look rather smallish, and I'd rather it was flat, and not curved downward as some of them are.
I already have a chrome 'hump rack', which I installed (with extraordinary difficulty, I might add) last year to better facilitate strapping an extra gallon of gasoline somewhere on the bike for extending the range of that itsy-bitsy 2.25 gallon fuel capacity when occasionally trundling across those vast South Dakota prairies.
I've never been very big on adding much stuff to my bikes that didn't come on it, so I have to push against my natural resistance to just leave things alone.
It' not a direct accessory to the bike, but there is a new, gloss black Biltwell Gringo S helmet that I spotted on eBay that's discounted down to under $150 from their usual $220.
I had one before, but it was one size too small, and as a result was literally painful to put on or slide off without tearing my ears off, but a size up would have solved that issue. It ended up in 'the bin' as they say.
I suppose it might be wise to order a spare drive belt (or two), a variator rebuild kit? Maybe an entire spare clutch assembly?
Maybe I'll just go buy another guitar, after all, I'm down to only about twenty of the damn things.
