2008 Piaggio Fly 150 recently started blowing oil and heavily wetting the right side of the bike. 30,000 mile daily driver. What's more likely, PCV valve or crank seal? It's wetting the exhaust and sidewall of rear tire. Also, if I get on the hwy and hit it it will want to die in a couple of miles but if I take slower back roads it's fairly fine. That's leading me to think PCV valve. Any thoughts?
We had similar issues with MP3 500's that we (on the MP3 forum) unscientifically tracked down to a specific year and manufacture months. The theory is the pistons used in this timeframe were subpar and would start to eat themselves. This happened around 27,000 miles on mine. I ended up replacing the cylinder and piston. which is a very time consuming task on an MP3 especially with intermediate mechanical skills.
That seems logic.
But at 30.000miles? A bit early, don't you think?

You did normal prescribed maintenance?
I've seen it on a GTV with 4500 miles. And I've seen engines with 70,000 miles that were tight and ran like new. There is no specific time or date when the pistons break, and most of them don't.
