Hi,

I've been having trouble getting my 2017 Primavera 50 to fire. There's plenty of battery. Following a tip I found in some corner of the internet, I detached the air pipe from the air filter and blasted some carb cleaning spray up the pipe in the direction of the carb.

It started straight away, but a couple of days later I tried to start it again and it wouldn't fire. So I did the trick with the carb spray again and it sure enough started...

So my question is, in light of what I've said, what do you think the problem is likely to be, and what would be a more permanent fix?

Thanks!
Tim

Fuel is not getting to the carburetor (or fuel injector?). Try disconnecting the fuel line and see if fuel is flowing.

I don't know this model, but it either has a fuel pump which you should hear running when you turn the key on, or it has a vacuum actuated fuel tap and the vacuum hose from the manifold has come off or there's a vacuum leak somewhere.

If it runs after the starting fluid, it has vacuum. Sounds like the electric choke is bad.

Did it run for more than a few seconds after starting it with starting fluid?

Yes, it ran fine .... What I used was carb cleaner. Does that count as starting fluid?
Thanks for all your replies!

It has the same effect. It burns readily but the engine will run only until the starting fluid is gone. If it keeps running, that shows you have spark and fuel. NightWing's probably right — it needs a boost to get started. The choke should be easy to test and fix.

Thanks for the advice! Sounds like I need to check out the choke next...
