I'm trying to also get the original colour details

Thanks for your help..

Check out this thread. Based on this it looks like your VIN may be correct, except the "Y" is probably a "V".

Throw the number that comes after the ZAPOVSX1T into this website and maybe you'll get the year (unless your Vespa is too new).

After 2002 Piaggio changed to the international standards of VINS, all PX start with ZAPM after a certain point. Engine is still VSX1T.
Scooterhelp has no info about post 90s Vespas.

Scooterhelp's database is outdated. Since OP is from Australia that's probably a specific market VIN. ZAPM18*XXXXXXX* VIN was the last for the European market and started from 1998 to end of production of the PX200s…

I looked at the PX Technica manual and 60 years of the Vespa book and all it shows are the ZAPM vins.

The only thing I could see for blue colors for PX's is the special metallic-blue grey on the PX Time 2000 special edition model. (It says there was a badge on the top, left of the glovebox. Do you have random holes drilled there?)

Or, Blue-Silver, Max Meyer Code 8007M. Or Cobalt Blue, Max Meyer Code 7003M

As you know it's an unusual colour. Apparently in 96 and 97 there were a few different colours available, including this and a lemon colour. It was described by a local (Melbourne Australia) mechanic as "Grandma Lavender Rinse". Razz emoticon

Yes the colour in the photo is true to life, a mate of mine has one the same, and another guy in Queensland has one also.

We're not exactly sure where they were originally sold, but Frank from Vespa House in Melbourne (operating since 1956!!) remembers my mate's one.
Apparently he remembers it particularly because it was brought in for repairs at some point when the rear shock had punched through the frame. It had been ridden for some 80,000km by an extremely obese lady.

His is a 1996 model, and he thinks the QLD one is a 97. He guessed that your one Bottsi is also a 97 as the mirrors are in the headset. His 96 has the brackets underneath (but possible they may have been changed).

Here's his sticker with the VIN. It doesn't have a stamped number on the frame!
