Lando got 2nd.
Also I sorted the variator nut, but I do have a fresh one coming along with new washers just because. sounds like they may be torque-to-yield so cheap insurance. But i did a quick putz around the neighborhood and got it up to about 40 and nothing exploded or went clangity clang clang so....I guess i didn't bork it up too bad?

While I am completely happy doing what I do for a living, and with my employer, I understand that things change.
In order for me to move up within the school district, I need to have a degree. I do not have one. My Director supports me getting one, and gave me some advice with regards to what field(s) to work towards. I made the first step today and reached out to the local Community College that I attended 20+ years ago to findout what the status of my course credits are. They talked me through how to find my student ID number, and gave me the steps to take to find out. So I've started that ball rolling.

Check into experience based credits, too. Sometimes workplace experience can be applied toward your degree requirements.

A gaggle of Elk cows were in the valley this afternoon as I passed by while on my way home from Deadwood.
I haven't seen any Elk around here for several years, though it's not as if they aren't around, they're just very good at staying out of sight, unlike the deer. ![]()

I was out riding this weekend and ran into some guys from Choppers Magazine. They're out on a ride around the Reno/Tahoe area. Doing some scouting ahead of a big Chopper gathering that will go down in Virginia City, NV in August. Seeing all this old iron always cheers me up.

Fresh appointment at Walter Reed today. Knee is still bad from the crash and the last doc, despite being told "three civilian doctors i know all said get an MRI" decided the best course of action was to start treatment before knowing what's actually wrong.
Of course by "start treatment" i mean that he pulled up basic PT exercises on his computer screen, said "take a picture of this with your phone and see if you feel better in 6-8 weeks." then left. But I remain optimistic today will be better.

adri wrote: Could you not give it some more standard V7 ergonomics with a handlebar change, maybe even some footpeg offsets? I got a new set of used sidecovers from eBay delivered today, but haven't taken a pic yet. This one's from a few days ago. I should be getting a free seat cover from Greece for it soon. I didn't find my 2018 Triumph Thruxton uncomfortable at all...unless I found myself slogging through town and sitting at a bunch of red stoplights. But as long as I could keep rolling at a brisk pace, I felt that I could ride the Thruxton forever without it crippling me, but even though most people, even the riders of other types of machines, see all 'sportbikes' as the same tortuously uncomfortable thing, they vary greatly from one bike to another. I probably couldn't ride an R1 or ZX10 longer than a half hour before wanting to get off the thing, but I could definitely run my Thruxton all day without being hospitalized afterward, even though most would outwardly view them as the same kind of rolling torture racks. The seat on my V7 was.... adequate (?), nothing especially great, but I don't recall being bothered by it, so I guess that wasn't an issue with my example, but I never did ride mine on any extended road trips, only in my local area. Admittedly, a couple of full days on the bike might have changed my opinion on certain details, but the Black Hills area that I live and ride in kind of resembles the Lake Como region of Italy where my V7 was born and bred, and my V7 always felt very much in it's natural element here, with lots of forested, curving, 50-75 mph backroads where 150+ hp really isn't very usable. ⚠️ Last edited by JBacklund on UTC; edited 1 time

On the topic of V7s...
Backstory: Bought a theft-recovery V7 with a series of mechanical and aesthetic issues, including a seat that looks like someone took a bite out of it. Often with knee injuries they will begin PT before surgery to minimize atrophy. But it's not always the best course. I had a pretty bad injury in Feb 2023. Complete ACL tear, partial MCL tear, complex tear of the meniscus, and a small fracture of the tibial plateau. They completely immobilized my knee until the surgery was completed. No reason to do more damage by starting PT before the meniscus could be fixed. I'm back to 100% at this point. I hope your recovery goes as smoothly!

It's just a visit to the VW Museum plus the Audi, Bugatti and Audi expos.
Another one to be ticked off the list. I'm not Anti VW but I worked long enough for them to realise that they ain't all that. I kind of miss my V7 and 9. If I'd bought a Stone I'd probably still have it. I had a lovely Honda Cub lined up but the Full Service History wasn't entirely full so I bailed. Ho Hum. |
