I had my first proper blat around the neighbourhood on my little 50S today. More fun than I've had on two wheels in a while.
I'm sure the novelty of shifting gears will wear off fairly quickly though.

The fact that I went to collect some boots from a franchised heal bar earlier and the staff member - A lovely lady in her late 60's swore like a Fisherman's Wife for a good 5 minutes straight.
Everything was either F this or F that and or that's F'd up and it was just brilliant to listen to. I left in tears through laughing so much. My God she was just the best. Who says that you don't get good Customer Service in the UK ?

To the best of my knowledge, there's never been an asymmetric Apple mouse. Logitech seems quite willing to make products that cater solely to right-handers, though. Which is fine -- there's obviously enough of a market to make a go at it. But I don't think Apple could get away with that. I also rarely think of ergonomics as applied to right or left handed, which surprises me, considering how many left-handed people I have in my life. My younger brother, late uncle, and mother-in-law are/were all left handed. I'm sure there are others. Side note: I'm able to use left-handed scissors in my right hand and get a good clean cut from them. I also can throw darts almost equally well lefty as righty, and I'm almost as accurate playing pool lefty as righty. I'm also very quick at one-handed typing with my left hand, due to breaking my right arm and being unable to move my arm to the keyboard for 3 months. I also broke my right wrist 30+ years ago, and had to figure out how to do things left-handed while it healed. Some things I still do left-handed because of that.

Continuing to switch from winter to summer activities this week. I pulled the cover off our teardrop camper today. Installed the battery, checked all the electricals and solar charging. Checked wheel bearings, tires, and brakes. Gave it a fresh coating of carnauba wax. Ready for our first camping trip in 2 weeks (Fallen Leaf Lake in California). This cheers me up!

Second venture out into the wild on the vintage and the second bloke to ogle it was my old tech drawing teacher. Hadn't spoken to him since 1990. I told him how helpful his teaching had been to me over the years. We talked about bikes and scooters for a bit. He's 83 and still as awesome as ever.

Today and yesterday I went for long rides (for me) of 50 miles each. It felt to good to be on the road again, and on a machine that operates flawlessly. This cheered me up immensely.
Today was in the 70s, but very windy. The scoot isn't bothered at all by crosswinds. I bought this scooter without knowing much about Vespas, aside from owning one back in the 60s. It's a truly great machine - and that cheers me up, too!

There's a young girl in my life that I call my 'adopted Granddaughter'. She's the daughter of a good friend, and there's been no father in the picture since she was four years old. I live too far away to be there regularly, but I get together with her a few times a year and take her on the sort of adventures that a girl would normally have with her father. This weekend was a trip to a dirt bike school a couple of hours north of here. Her only motorcycle experience before this was riding the back of my bike, and in just a few hours they had her handling a Yamaha 125 like a pro, riding trails, clearing obstacles, riding smooth and confidently. Following her around at the end of the session, I think her technique might be better than mine.
She's almost 14 now, and I expect that sometime soon she'll decide she doesn't want to hang out with a guy in his late 50s any more, so the point to this weekend was simply to put a smile on her face and add one more 'adventure' to the list before she calls an end to it. Mission accomplished, in a very big way, and the fact that she got some impressive skills out of the deal was a much appreciated bonus.

How wonderful of you! You never know, she may never pull away. Or, as with most kids, she may pull away only to come back later when she is mature enough to realize how much you know and how much you care!

The truth of this is that it was intended to be an altruistic arrangement, me helping out a kid that had been dealt a less than ideal hand. It didn't take long to realize that I get at least as much out of our weekends as she does. This adopted grandfather gig is pretty sweet. |

For those who didn't see the story, someone at RB (probably friends with his SH/SA victim who are sick of his ego) leaked that he was openly opining after Newey's announcement that even if Helmut and Max followed suit, he'd continue winning because it really is down to him and not all of them.
![]() I already hoped he'd crash and burn (figuratively speaking of course, career-wise) after his behavior was leaked. Now i wouldn't be sad to hear an empty plane crashed into his house specifically while Geri was out.
