Day 25 of my road trip is the first day with real rain. It rained, heavy at times, for about half the day today. 1/2 a day of rain after 25 days on the road cheers me up! 😃

While mowing the lawn yesterday afternoon, a large insect flew over me and landed in the grass about twenty feet to my side.

Curious, I shut the mower down and went over to see what it was, and found a light green Praying Mantis looking back at me. I had never seen one of these fascinating creatures flying before.

I coaxed it onto my hand, then set it up in our front yard Maple tree where it would be safe from the mower. It's light green coloration matched the tree leaves almost perfectly.

Here's some images of it, and yes, seeing these guys around our house cheers me up.

About 7-1/2 pounds of pork butt has been sitting in the smoker for the past 9 hours. Pretty sure I'm having pulled pork for dinner tonight (and several more meals this weekend, and likely into next week). That's cheering me right up.

Mine was torn too.

Good news is it should be an easy scoped surgery to suture back in place. Tell her i said stay ahead of the pain with the gabapentin. If she gets behind the curve it's a lousy couple hours at best before stuff kicks in again. Hope she can get it nipped in the bud soonest!!!

The reason I posted this is because I have seen people on this forum quote Robot when he's made similar mistakes and swear that it is correct even when people show them the workshop manual.

yes/no/maybe. chose this thread as I didn't want to create a new thread to whinge about this (would have felt a bit bitchy) and I didn't choose pissing me off as I choose to try and make my post more of a laugh and the silliness of 60C. cheering/pissing seem to be good for a sort of general chat.

Is 60°C the temperature in the transmission?
Regardless, you two should sit down for a pint or two to discuss.

Took the wife to a clinic Thursday evening for a blood draw for the pre-employment drug screen. She got a call on Friday from her new boss letting her know she passed, and asked if she wanted to start on Monday (today). She said yes. We're both cheered up by the fact that she's gainfully employed again.

I stayed up very late on Saturday night (actually well into Sunday morning) to finish up my last two homework items for school for this term. They were due by 11:59 pm local time Sunday evening. I uploaded them at 1:36 am and 2:20 am Sunday morning, well in advance. As I was composing this post I received a few emails with grade updates. I got As in both classes. I have this week off from school, and the next term starts on Monday, Sept 2.

After 29 days on the road, I arrived home in Sparks, Nevada this afternoon. This road trip was EPIC and has left me with many lifetime memories. I have a huge cleanup job ahead of me to get the bike back in A1 condition again. I also experienced a noticable drop in compression on the #1 cylinder 3 days ago. Head gasket is good, I'm not burning oil, so it's probably a valve issue. I'll have to pull the top-end on the motor to get to the bottom of it. Leave that for a winter project. Speaking of winter, it was 29F this morning (Aug 26th) in Ely, Nevada. Made for a cold start to my last day.

It's good to be home and that cheers me up!

Yeah, Indys are made by Alden.

Also not a *full* moc toe as the stitched area isn't raised up and they're also much more of a rounded toe than mocs tend to be. i can't stand a full one either lol.

But i let the indys slide cause they're fantastic.

I must say, a fine looking pair of boots.

I am lazy, my riding boots are double zip down the front on both sides and slip on.

Thanks Bob!

I probably won't ride in this specific pair, though I have another pair of the more brick-red type color they're usually made in these days that have a substantial patina going so i've used them from time to time. Typically I'm in Thursdays or Trumans.

Of course now that my Sturgis 2.0 from Allen Edmonds are back and resoled and looking lovely, those may get the call from time to time as well.

This all hinges, naturally, on actually getting cleared at some point by the surgeon to ride again....

Surgeon's clearance is optional. According to the Orthopedic Surgeon that saw me after I broke my back, I'm not supposed to be running, lifting over 20lbs, rock climbing, diving, backpacking, playing squash, mountain biking, motorcycling, or most of the other things I do. If I recall correctly, he was OK with a slow walk and relaxing with a good book. I've decided to risk all of it. It's worked out well for 25 years so far, but you do have to be cognizant or the risks you're taking, and the potential consequences...
