Hello advice please! I've had a bench seat on my VBB but want to put orig saddle and "buddy" seat back on. Saddle goes on no problem but can't work out how to attach "buddy" seat to seat frame. Advice please!!! Many thanks

What does the underside of your buddy seat look like? Might need to drill holes in the seat frame.

Usually the buddy seat has a flat piece of steel that cinches the seat down onto the carrier when screwed in.

I also have this home made wooden bench that the fella I bought from constructed. Am wondering if the oval(ish) metal plate needs to get attached to the buddy seat somehow?

Here's mine.

The seat is a repop but the set up is the same on the original one I have as well. Albeit the metal flap is thicker and stronger than the repop.
You gotta put this all on after the carrier is installed with the 3 bolts. It's kind of a pain to get to the screws to hold the plate that keeps the seat secure tightened. Not much room under there.

I realized last night it may be hard to visualize what I was trying to get at and maybe a picture would make more sense. Glad it did and happy to help.

The same issue occurs with a small frame. At first it seems impossible. Then you realize there is a way, but it means very limited space to move an open end wrench back and forth through the tight opening in the carrier to secure the three bolts.
I believe you must install the three large bolts through the carrier holes before you install the cushion. PITA.

That is correct, gotta put the cushion on after the carrier is installed on the frame. A ratcheting wrench comes in handy here if you have one.

On the small frame carrier, there's not even enough space to get a ratcheting wrench over the head of the bolts. Only a long, thin, open end wrench works, moving a centimeter each time back and forth flipping the wrench over after each turn to get a new angle. What The? emoticon
