Before I go through a lot of trouble, I figured out a way to have my Garmin GPS on a 1" ball mount right above the dash of my BV-400.this 1" round ball has a 1/4"-20 threaded base. I bought a Go pro base mount that is threaded 1/4"-20 and has a rubber base washer. I will use a stainless set screw through a hole in the windshield will and neatly couple these two mounts in place, windshield sandwiched between. My question is -will the picture be constantly blurred ? I like traveling mostly FM and state roads, some interstate. Rarely gravel roads. What say oh wise ones…

kawzak If you're interested, I have a (not currently super active) YouTube channel (linked in my profile) where I have videos that are mostly from a GoPro mounted various places on a GTS or BV, where I go riding around. I usually have notes on settings and mount point. It might be useful to get an idea of expectations and stability. (Generally, pretty good, but it depends on your use case.)

just to be clear, are you saying that you want to bolt both your garmin and gopro to the windshield?
On my Vespa the windshield vibrates a lot so I wouldn't try this as there's a risk of cracking the windshield when the extra weight is vibrating causing more flex. But for a Bev I'm not as familiar with the windshield solidity ... the gopro is pretty damn good at image stabilisation even when I ride stupidly bad roads so blur probably won't be an issue

I haven't ridden my BV400 enough to know how it behaves, but judging from my BV350 and other scooters, I think a camera on the windshield would vibrate too much. Also, I wouldn't drill a hole in the windshield, as it would create stress points which could potentially lead to cracks. If I had to mount a camera I'd use some sort of clamp.

What model Go Pro is it? As time has gone on, their stability control has gotten better and better.
You will need to go into the settings to make sure everything is turned up to the maximum. |
