Modern Vespa

My kitchen sink is a double sink like many others. Wash on the left, dish rack on the right. My house was built in 1910, so space is limited. I'm 5'9" and I feel tall, lol. It's strange how people were smaller then. A bit of trivia, my house survived hurricane Hazel.

To my point. The right side of my sink was backing up. I did what any dipshit would do and poured some gel drain fix down the pipe. Still backing up. The pipes were clear.

Now I know people in the "know" are probably figuring it out anyway. 3 words. Air admittance valve. It's a cap set up high that would be a plug if it didn't need to let air and water flow. The valve was stuck and was creating a vacuum. Plumbing isn't my wheelhouse and I was resigned to calling a plumber.

I took the cap off and cleaned it out nice then popped it back on. Smooth sailing now. Flowing perfectly. Dipshit confirmed, but I have that knowledge now. Afterwards I felt like berating someone and though of this scene...

For the record, I never paid a plumber. Trial and error. In this last year I have done pretty well with replacing the guts of a toilet and that sink deal. In plumbing, it's not replacing that is the problem, it's the removing of old shit, no pun intended. The 3 bolts connecting my toilet tank to the bowl were locked, so I had to hacksaw all 3.......took me 30 minutes....got the tank off and the lock nut thingy on the bottom was stuck.....I don't mind shit on my hands, I'm a father, used to it.....but dealing with plumbing really gets to me....it kicks you when you're down....then gives you shit....double whammy........
