Does anyone have a way of adjusting the strength of the return on the throttle twist grip? On long journeys I find it quite an effort to keep the throttle wound open. I did a 310 mile journey yesterday on roads not suitable for the cruise control and my wrists were aching by the end of the journey. I was hoping there would be a friction screw to adjust such as was on older bikes, but if there is an adjuster I cant find it

Something like this should help relieve wrist pain. Ditto on using grip puppies

stop the death grip. relax. you can keep your throttle in position by just slight pressure of your palm, your fingers should be able to wiggle.

I don't grip the throttle, just rest my palm on it and that's typically sufficient to keep it in position. My fingers are relaxed and resting on the brake. Perhaps the newer 530 throttle requires more force to keep it in position or its not yet as worn in as my well traveled 2016.

Thanks for the replies guys, unfortunately I don't like the cruise helpers, and I already have grip puppies , but the strength of the throttle return spring on the new 530 is ferocious. I have been riding bikes for more than 40 years and never come across one as fierce as this. I was hoping to try and tame it with some kind of friction device.

Maybe pass by your dealer while under warranty to check all is ok, that way you could see on another if it is the same.

GTdespatchcourier - please explain the rubber band trick

flybynight - Thats a good idea, but as it's a 100 mile round trip it will have to wait until I am in the area

Put a rubber band in the gap at the end of the grip. This creates friction when the throttle twists. It's a poor man's cruise control. If your return strength on the throttle is super strong it won't work but it will cause some friction and maybe help.

Good idea in some places, but certainly not in the UK, if the poor guy has an accident, insurance will not pay out

Do you have an alternative suggestion?

Yeah something is not right there. It should not be that hard to keep open. I am getting ready to replace both throttle cables on mine because I have the opposite problem.

Nope sorry dealer as I already said might be best thing, as my 500 is easy to hold open with a little finger, cannot understand why the 530 spring is so tight, normally ride by wire is just finger strong.

Old is certainly gold today, nothing like a spanner a screwdriver and a bit of grease to fix most problems, all this electronic wizardry is not always the best.

I doubt parts of the older gens are gonna fit the new 530 since it (530) is supposed to be the first MP3 with real drive by wire (no throttle cables)
