So I have a 2022 GTS300 and I installed an Overdrive ABS ring
https://www.scooterwest.com/abs-overdrive-tone-timing-wheel-disc-rear-gts-gtv-hpe.html

Which was a major pain with the Loctite bolts... anyway, putting everything back together and looking to recalibrate the ABS/ASR, but the ABS light wont stop flashing, even riding for 15 mins and the Speedo has stopped working.

The ABS may not be calibrating as the speedo is not working, as it can't see that the bike is moving?

Cable looks ok on the front (digital not manual cable) and only stopped working since installing the ring on back wheel, which I believe the bike does read both from and rear rings for ABS and ASR.

I also have the engine light on now - so starting to regret this overdrive ring... and it's not a 5 minute job to revert back to test either... But, I may need to put the old ring back on to diagnose.

Also, with the check engine light coming on, I replaced the battery (which was starting to lose power) and I was hoping it was going to fix these gremlins - not the case...

First thought would be replace the speedo cable - but it looks new and seems highly unlikely that it failed exactly the same time as replacing the rear ring.

I did try to recalibrate ABS and ARS - I can't tell I'm at 18mph exactly, but the ASR stopped flashing after following the process, ABS still flashing.

Anyone faced this issue? Thoughts I my next steps?

on the gts hpe the speedo is driven by the rear ring not the front. (running the bike on the stand is easy proof of this when the bike is healthy)

possibly bent the ring or the gap to the sensor is wrong (missing or wrong washers on the bolt that holds it).

don't focus on calibration. if you ain't got anything showing on the speedo then calibration won't work.

this problem will cause the engine light.

Thanks for the response. Really helpful.

I'm assuming the calibration is false at this time and bigger problems to fix first...

Checked on the stand and the ring looks true (no wobble) - but I did paint it black, when it came chrome. I'm assuming this wouldn't cause the issue as it's working on the pulse between the gaps -but this is different from what the shop sent me.

I'll also check the gap on the rear sensor. That makes the most sense on why I'm facing these issues.

Also, I didn't see a direction arrow, so assuming you can fit either way - it looked symmetrical, so assuming this is not the problem.

would not have expected a *thin coat of plain* paint to matter but if it's fancy paint then hard to say.

what is the gap you have for the sensor to ring (in mm)? feeler gauges could help here

Checked the gap. It's 7mm between the sensor and the tone wheel. The wheel looks lined up correctly and I believe was installed with correct sequence of spacers etc.

pretty sure that's supposed to be 0.7-1.9 mm. 7 mm is way too much

Yes, I've just researched that it should be under 3mm.

So, I've just spent the evening breaking down the bike (again) and I realized I had the spacer inside the swing arm. (Idiot).

So, spacer now on the outside, next to the nut/pin. Ran out of time to put the exhaust back on and try it, but the sensor is now very close to the wheel.

I also disconnected the sensor and the ABS light went constant, so I'm thinking thats a good sign that the sensor is at least getting power once connected and the bike recognizes it.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow and the test...

Again, thanks again for the help on this.

If you'll excuse the dirtiness ... spacer goes on the outside

Thanks for confirming. Yes, I watched another YT video and found that I could get the swing arm over the axel by screwing on the nut.

Fingers crossed, this was the issue and running it outside tomorrow and all lights are gone.

Update... A run out this morning and speedo is back online and so the ABS calibrated now it sees the bike running.

A big thanks to SteelBytes for helping my figure out the spacer issue.

Now I just have the engine light on... But that's for the weekend.

The engine light was caused by the tone wheel and failed calibration. It will go away after several normal stop and starts.
