I saw another post on key programming this morning and made me think about my current situation.
I have two MP3 500's. The red one is a 2008 and I am decommissioning it and using some of the parts for getting the yellow one, which is a 2009, back on the road.
Two questions:
Can the black key from the red MP3 be reprogrammed using the brown master key from the yellow one?
Can the brown master key from the red MP3 be reprogrammed using the brown key from the yellow one?
I think I know the answers to both but I am not sure.
First:
Yes you can teach each compatible Key with the vehicle specific master to get another driving key.
Note: there was a change in the used technology (MINDA / Giobert) so it is necessary that it is the same technology.
Your first question:
Yes, you can teach an already used key with an different master. But why would you do this? Key will not fit the different lockā¦
Your second question:
Yes, see above (the color of the key doesn't matter, if you teach a master with a different master to an vehicle it will no longer be a master, it will be only a driving key. So it does not duplicate a master!!! -> there is only ONE Master per ECU).
As ECU, lock and both keys are "one unit" I belive the best is to keep that unit together. By reprogramming the master for a different purpose you will have no longer a master regarding to that ECU (ECU become worthless).
