Was reading through some old posts debating what are acceptable cookie ingredients, who's nana's cookie recipe was better, etc. It came as no surprise, folks here have strong opinions and are willing to share 'em. Got me thinking about what's my favorite and, more importantly, why.

I like most cookies. Probably because sweets were a treat only for special occasions: Easter, Christmas and birthdays. The list grew to Mother's Day, Father's Day and any Sunday when we had company. But only when Mom had time to bake, Nothing store bought in her house. My current favorite has chocolate chunks, toffee, dried cranberries (preferred over the recipe's cherries) and oats. In an effort to keep the peace around here, I'm not calling them oatmeal cookies

My 3-year-old granddaughter, with the help of Mrs. JKJ, made these. They're second to none.

This thread was, I think, indirectly inspired by recent conversations about an old poll I posted years ago. The poll options are no longer active, but the gist of it was that people who put nuts in oatmeal cookies must not like oatmeal cookies, so they ruin them for everyone else.

I think ks7877 and I disagree on this point, but as she's an otherwise lovely person, I am choosing to look past that disagreement.

My favorite cookie is definitely oatmeal with rum-soaked raisins. Chocolate chips in oatmeal cookies are okay, but you can't soak the chips in rum.

Nuts ruin the chewy texture of oatmeal cookies, but I'd happily have nuts in a variety of other contexts.

My two favorite cookies are also variations on old favorites. I like oatmeal cookies with raisins and dried cranberries. I also like peanut butter cookies with chocolate chips.

Oatmeal cookies with raisins for sure. The properly made chocolate chip cookie would be equal. Butterscotch chips get it done too.

Those home baked chocolate chip cookies are great. Problem, my wife and daughter are not always baking. I have coffee with cookies every morning.
So, these Belgium cookes are great. These are filled. They also have the straight Biscoff hard cookies severed on airplanes.

For some reason, I do not like soft cookies.

There is a restaurant in Phoenix called Chino Bandido. Asian/Mexican fusion, I guess you'd say. Every meal comes with a Snickerdoodle. Yum

I LOVE me some white chocolate macadamia nut cookies! Returned from an NCL cruise last month, and they had some mighty fine white choc/macadamia cookies on that ship. Couldn't get enough!

I tried to think of a suitable joke along those lines, but ultimately failed. I'm actually trying to track down an email-related problem, and I needed to see if the server would notify one of the participants on this thread.

Yes. The server has to do a translation for IP addresses that geolocate to the UK and certain commonwealth countries. Instead of calling setcookie() I have to call setbiscuit().

Note bits broken off it. Really authentic NSM cookie!

I put a dedicated effort in last year to infiltrate the kitchen space with scooterisms. The tea towel has been particularly effective.

Corners or middle? This is important. And I'll be judging your answer.

I owned one of those. It doesn't work as promised. The corners don't get crisped the way they would in a regular pan. My hunch is that it's because it is made of aluminum, instead of steel, but that's just a guess.

My Christmas cookies. It's a basic Chocolate Chip cookie, to which I add chopped up maraschino cherries, shredded coconut, and extra chocolate chips (cause there's no such thing as too many chocolate chips). I bake them once a year, a tradition I share with my neighbors 3 granddaughters, and they last about 8 seconds after they come off the baking sheets.

Corners are great, but the soft, middle is the best.
