Hot engine and hot exhaust + water ...

Also since the 'sports' exhaust (arrow) doesn't use gaskets on the mid pipe joins, it would let water in.

I always reckoned that 'up to the floorboards' was fine, and did that several times, with seemingly no ill effects.

There are other photos of this event, and more people on the islet, but damned if I can find them.

Crossed the one I had planned.

Was deep enough to wet the bottom of the crack case / sump but not much. About 5-6 inches in the deepest bit.

Motorcross off road with a Vespa. Something is wrong here?

Best to you Dusty Trail Cowboys. As for me, smooth paved roads.

Reminds me of the time Bill Dog and I tried to ride a smallie all the way to Tierra Del Fuego. I was much happier after it got really cold when it was his turn to sit on the back.

hell no

over the floor would have flooded the battery and regulator etc

but splash the bottom of it without getting more than a drop in, sure.

PS yes for deeper water could *maybe* rely on creating a bow wave to separate the water making it shallower under the floor. But this would probably only be possible with a good river bottom eg a proper concrete ford with no slime etc. Although then if too fast the front wheel will loose traction and drift down stream ... ouch

I've done a few water crossings, but max depth was probably 7 inches.

Here's a video from a group ride in Indiana... Skip to the 2:15 mark if you want.
