Hey guys. I am currently investigating removing completely my key lock/ignition and replacing it with a mo.lock NFC from Motogadget on my LX.
I want to completely remove the key lock and actually close the hole where the key is usually inserted in the plastic glovebox.
I know I will also lose the mechanical lock, but that is really not much of a concern as I keep my Vespa in the garage at most times when I am at home, and in a secure and guarded area when at work so not really afraid someone would steal it.
I can add if needed a mechanical lock on the brake disk, or similar, as the key isn't actually too safe as a lock anyway for the rare occasions I leave it unattended in different places in the city.
The problem is that the guys from Motogadget are advising to deactivate the factory immobilizer if you use their mo.lock NFC ignition lock.
From what I understand the factory immobilizer ring on the key lock can't just be removed from the ECU coupling as the ECU will stop working without it as I undertand so the only other alternative would be an aftermarket ECU, but I am not really keen on replacing the factory one.
As such, I was thinking of just hiding the immobilizer ring somewhere in the area, with an immobilizer chip from one of the keys bound to it. This should "deactivate" it in theory.
Any thoughts? Anyone has had any experience with Motogadget's mo.lock?
