I have a ruby red 2009 GTS250 with 8183 miles on it as of 6/21/23, and hasn't been ridden since. It's in excellent body condition (some rash on the cargo box from the previous owner); however, it could probably use new tires; definitely a new battery; and is due for an oil change at 9k miles.

I got into an accident (not on this scooter) last June and can no longer ride, so I have to give it up. I'd like to get feedback on if I should get everything done first then sell, or sell as is. The battery is completely dead, so minimally, it sems like I should at least get this fixed before selling so any potential buyer can test it.

TIA

I'd find an average selling price. Then deduct the cost of what needs to be done and sell "as is".

I'd buy a new battery. For me, there's a big difference between a scooter in good condition with low miles, and a non-running lump. The difference would easily cover the cost of a new battery. I'd tell a buyer about the tires -- their age and condition -- but I'd leave it up to the buyer to decide if new ones were needed.

Yep. Probably worth it to at least replace the battery yourself so you can show them a nice running scoot.

You might find someone who's happy to replace the tires and change the fluids themselves and you both save some money.

I'll echo the others advice here with recommending a battery so that it at least starts and runs.

run the comps off of CL, offer & marketplace and then put it up at around a grand less because of the work it'll need and it should sell easily.

no test rides without cash in hand. period. ever. never, ever, ever. at all. ever.
