From the Netherlands Carillon adjacent to the US Marine Corps War Memorial right outside Washington DC.

Our neighbors used to have California Poppies planted in their front yard, and at some point they migrated to our yard. Now our neighbors have re-landscaped, and they no longer have any California Poppies, but we do. Growing out of the cracks in the sidewalk at this point.

They are lovely though.

They are lovely and certainly a lot better than weeds.

I mean, they're basically weeds. But pretty weeds.

The poppies remind me of mint that likes to migrate where it isn't wanted.

Yeah, you northern guys aren't experiencing Spring even if the Spring vernal equinox has passed. Here, early risers, so to speak, are blooming, but many plants aren't there yet.

I wish you all warm weather soonest.

Thanks!

TBH, I've had several comfortable commutes to work already last month. It's been a weird winter.

Then again 1990 gave us a May 10 snowstorm that broke branches all over town largely because trees were fully leafed out.

Welcome.

Yeah, super variable weather here this winter alternating between normalish cold and abnormal warmth. Hope there is no late snowstorm this year.

My irises are finally popping. Purple blooms first.
In a couple of weeks, I'll have yellow and pink.
Then, the magnolia will flower for a month or so.
The day lilies will bloom about the time it gets hot.
The sage will put out bright purple flowers 48 to 72 hours prior to summer rains once the temp reliably hits 90F.
The key to their survival is for me to ignore them. I've loved waaay too many plants to early graves.
