Modern Vespa

My 2005 Vespa won't start using the electric starter. Nothing, no sound, no movement. The Vespa will start with the kick start.
The battery works.
What can it be?

did it work before and it just suddenly quit?

And if it did work before, give it a few love taps and try it again.

Perhaps corrosion on the red starter button contacts? Unscrew the two screws and check it out. Use a jumper wire to see if it then will turn over the starter.

If you have a couple of wires see if you can jump the starter. It could be that it has dirt on the starter brushes too. You could spray cleaner. The brushes on the starter are like that, if they are worn or dirty they might just wouldn't move.

Are you pressing the clutch lever? maybe the clutch lever switch is going bad too. Obviously the key is turned all the way right? duhhh. lol. You never know, it happens to all of us.
