This Off-Season Winter, I put both my 300 Vespa and Kymco 550 on trickle charger maintainers. Touch down, after six months both popped off immediately. My only next challenge is the keyless fobs for the Kymco die
every 12 months. Cheap fix. I do prefer keys,

The unheated garage will have helped.

I'm not a fan (very much the opposite) of leaving lead-acid batteries connected to 'maintainers' for long periods of time. So I count you lucky. There have been enough tales on here and in my personal experience of batteries just getting slightly over-charged for long enough that they've given up the ghost far too early.

If it's a cold garage - better to just let the lead-acid batteries stay cold. The self-discharge tends towards zero, and they're quite content down to -40F/C - just don't try to use them in that state!

I get the same outcomes with carbureted engines - but the secret is to use stabilized fuel.

Pop on the trickle charger for a midwinter day or two, if you like, or, really, just a few hours before spring warmup. Or, maybe, not at all, they almost always fire up quickly enough.

Has worked for decades of seasonal use of scooters, boats, power washers, generators, snowblowers, and lawn mowers. Nearly all with ethanol-laden fuel, and only one fuel injector in the lot. I've only cleaned one carburetor in my life that was sullied of my own doing…and that was a salt water issue.[/u]
