How am I supposed to remove this screw from the coolant expansion tank?
Do I actually have to grind a t30 bit down so it's short enough to fit in there? I can't get anything to fit between the screw and the ignition switch. Only thing I can see is the grind a t30 bit down short enough that I can get it in there.

Do I have to grind this bit down so it's shorter? I see no other way to get it out.

That's what I was going to suggest — 1/4" hex drive bit with a ratcheting wrench. Grind the bit down, they're expendable.
Otherwise, how hard is it to remove the piece that's blocking?

It's the ignition switch barrel that's blocking it, which is welded to the frame. I'll just have to grind it down I think. Just seems like there would be another way. I do notice some of my other bits are shorter. So it may just be the bit I have is extra long for some reason.

That would most likely work, but it only goes up to t26. Just my luck. I'm going to run by a hardware store and see if they have shorter T30 bits than what I have before I grind mine down.

A 1/4" ratcheting wrench with a hex bit is about as short as you can get. Grind or saw off the bit if you need it shorter.

Yeah, I ran up to tractor supply and bought another bit to grind down. Going to have to literally grind it so it's half the length that it was originally.

Okay, got the screw out. I have no idea how I'm going to get back on. Very hard to get my hand in there. May have to get a coordinated neighbor kid to come by and start it.

I got the expansion tank reinstalled. The secret with that screw seems to be put it in the expansion tank then line it up with the hole in the frame.

You could also use a drop of superglue to glue the screw to the end of the driver. One of the mechanics I worked with used to glue the exhaust nut to one of his fingers when he was replacing the exhaust on a GTS. Saves a surprising amount of time.

In this particular case that won't work, because of the length of the screw with it on the driver it won't fit in the hole. I have no idea why they didn't move the screw 2 mm forward.
