A Vespa technician just told me that I would need to install a low profile brake caliper if the replacement shock has a reservoir.
This is the first I've heard of this, is it true?
TIA!

No.

It's common to install a front shock with a reservoir like the bitubo without changing the brake caliper.

It's a straight forward job and very rewarding. I found backing off most of the damping and about seven full turns up on the compression suited our roads and my riding.
