Hi hi, quick question that I'm not finding on the internet — is there a way to know if the tumbler is functioning once removed from the scoot?

TLDR; I removed the lock tumbler and the key turns fine in all directions, albeit it does go all the way around. I'm able to remove the key in "Lock" and "Off" positions without issue. Does this mean the lock is actually okay?

Backstory: I believe someone jammed a screwdriver in there and it messed up the lock mechanism. I came out after work, couldn't get my key in, worked it a bit, got the key in, but it was stuck in "Lock".

I removed the glovebox and horn cover (hooray for underseat toolkit) and spent an hour and a half trying to unlock the column. I did eventually get it, but then the key was stuck in "Off".

I've since removed the lock and to my surprise, the key turned with no problem.

Thank you! 🛵😊

Can you turn the tumbler with the "wrong" key? That is, try a key from a different scooter, or use a small screwdriver (gently) to try to turn the lock. If you can't turn it it's working.

here's two threads with some pics and discussion that may help

Key spins 360 degrees

C-clip Spring (ignition) (Page 2)

beyond that, let me know if you have any specific questions. I currently have an ET2 sitting here in the shop and I'm more than happy to provide model specific info.

Awesome, thank you! Looking at the first link, sounds like spinning 360 is normal when the clip is out. The lock doesn't seem to turn without the key, but I need to try it with a proper screwdriver (I only had a ratchet screwdriver handy) to confirm.

I'm optimistic, though, based on what you've shared. Thanks so much!
