Just ordered a replacement starter relay for my mp3, picture shows no screws, anybody know if it comes with screws?
Don't see them as an option to order in the parts diagram.
Thanks

Looks like they do not come with screws unfortunately. Now I have to track down some really short screws.

Have you tried an Ace Hardware store? They usually have a good selection of metric screws.

I'm going to try hardware stores first, most likely going to have to go to Fastenal, as the screws are really short.

You can always cut down longer ones - hacksaws are very useful.

I've never had success getting the threads on the end right after cutting a screw. I have to watch some YouTube videos. Thanks for encouraging me to try it.

Run a nut on the screw before you cut it. Then when you back off the nut it helps restore the threads.

Pliers with screw cutters are useful too. Does anyone know if they're made with metric threads?

Have a friend that builds custom motorcycles, if I can't get it done, I'll stop by his shop and he'll do it for me.

He built a motorcycle that looked like a large spider bicycle with what I think was a 650 triumph motor in it..

The screws got cross threaded on the original starter relay.
That was done trying to connect the two battery leads without disconnecting the multiple wire connector. Making it hard to line the screws up.
The original mp3 starter relay had studs and nuts instead of screws, which made it much easier to get the cables connected. Have no idea why they changed the design to screws instead of studs.
I'm sure it was a cost saving issue.

Best one I could find but for the price I would need to be cutting screws pretty regular to justify the cost!

Like others have said screw a spare nut on all the way then cut/grind/file or what ever then back the nut off to straighten out any damaged threads

I've been thinking about it, if I'm having to cut bolts to the right length, I might as well just make studs. They were much easier than the newer style screw. So I'm just going to cut off screws and make them in to studs. Use a double nut set up on the end to screw them in and tighten them up.

Received the new relay yesterday, went out to my shop to find a long bolt use that I could cut off. It's 6 mm by 1.25 pitch thread. Which isn't common. Fastenal doesn't even carry it. Found some on Amazon. Had to order 10.
Will be here between May 1st and May 5th. 🙄
