Ok. I do NOT need any more projects. Period. (me two weeks ago)

This one a friend of mine started on, and lost interest- it happens.

Engine is rebuilt and ready to go, all new or good condition parts are ready and everything is primer. I will need to do some light bodywork, but it looks pretty good for now. Been spending most of my free time on the XK120, which is an every nut and bolt deal and extremely time consuming. Adding the rally (which will be red to match my Alfa Spider) will give me a white 180, red rally and the 59 VBA will have to be blue. It was originally metallic blue but I loathe that color. I *should* have the Rally assembled and painted by the end of summer, since I have all the parts ready to go. Pics for effect:

Quick Q. When did they add the oil tank to Rallys? This one is plugged on the frame, and I am wondering if it would be better to have the oil tank, or just keep it premix. Opinions welcome as always

I *believe* it was 69

the early set ups are steel tank permanently welded to the down tube.

did somebody plug it or is it just not there?

I only ask because not all rally/super/sprint and even P's had oil injection (my T5 doesn't). it might be an import bike or could be a really really early one.

Congrats, and this time you don't have to build it from scratch!

I assume your motor was autolube and can be put back to original? If you need any stock autolube parts I probably have what you need.

What market is the T5? I'm guessing Spain or Italy; I'm not aware of any other where the option was available...

Huh! I guess you learn something new every day! I thought they only had the "fully loaded" versions... One german market scooter I'd like to find is a gen 2 Cosa 200 GS with the aluminum cylinder and abs🤙🏻

I kinda miss that good running Cosa 1 that I offered you for peanuts a few years back which I finally traded for a busted PK Pluramatiç. But I DO have most of a very straight rust free Cosa 2 in pieces with no ABS but has the aluminum cylinder and marvelous single cable shift. Same deal, cheep cheep cheep, but FOB my front door.

It wouldn't be an either/or situation with regards to the rest of the fleet, but definitely an "and".

What I like about these is all the technical and practical stuff: linked hydraulic brakes, tacho, idiot lights aplenty (oil reserve, battery, abs (ebc), etc), storage under the seat, automatic choke and fuel shut-off; not to mention the rigidity of the frame, stability, and general comfort.

Yes, they're ugly compared to most other classic scooters, but if you stick to night trips where no one you know is going to see you on it, I'm sure the riding pleasure trumps any legitimate self-awareness

The one thing I question is the automatic choke coupled with an aluminum cylinder. I tried modifying an SI24/24H carb for my T5, and the fact it took around 4 minutes for the choke to get to t° and shut off was an issue. It might have worked fine on a cast iron cylinder, but on the immediately-at-temp T5 cylinder it was a chore.
