I have the plastic American fuel lever but replaced the fuel tap. Does anybody know what positions correspond? I believe Off on the lever corresponds to On on the fuel tap but not sure of the others. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Depending on which side you mount the script originally facing engine side I believe up will be OFF middle is ON and down is RESERVE. I have mine opposite because I felt it was easier for me to lift the lever instead of pushing downward on unexpected fuel run out. Positions as marked no longer correct.

Assuming the fuel tap has not been taken apart and incorrectly reassembled, all you have to do is: using a flat blade screwdriver, turn the fuel tap valve all the way clockwise until it stops.

This should now be your OFF position; then reinstall the rod in the tap valve and reinstall the plastic selector lever at the front with the indicator in the OFF position. Now all 3 positions should match.

It would be great if someone could create a new 3D printed disc to replace the original with correct valve positions that match currently available valves. I've never tried but it looks like the disc just pops into the lever. The plastic levers are unique to USA market Vespa's and are becoming difficult and expensive to find.

I was at Bar Italia many years ago to pick up some parts for my P2, and I mentioned looking for US market levers to fit on my Euro spec scooters. The guy handed me 2 complete sets he had laying around, and told me they had so many people converting to the Euro type they couldn't give the plastic ones away fast enough.

There is much truth to that but I can't imagine Christian going that route based on his restoration correctness. From my point of view the original looks better but it comes with baggage. I'm seeing them listed on scootnet and FB for ridiculous prices. Hope I never have to replace.

He may have changed his mind in the meantime . This would have been late '90s I think, and a lot of things were different then. My P2 cost me a whole $700 at the time.
